Spectral properties and breathing dynamics of a few-body Bose–Bose mixture in a 1D harmonic trap

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2018
We investigate a few-body mixture of two bosonic components, each consisting of two particles confined in a quasi one-dimensional harmonic trap. By means of exact diagonalization with a correlated basis approach we obtain the low-energy spectrum and ...

Web-based sensor streaming wearable for respiratory monitoring applications. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper presents a system for remote monitoring of respiration of individuals that can detect respiration rate, mode of breathing and identify coughing events. It comprises a series of polymer fabric-sensors incorporated into a sports vest, a wearable

Breathing mode in two-dimensional binary self-bound Bose-gas droplets

open access: yes, 2021
In this work, we study the stationary structures and the breathing mode behavior of a two-dimensional self-bound binary Bose droplet. We employ an analytical approach using a variational ansatz with a super-Gaussian trial order parameter and compare it ...

Linearized physics and gravitational-waves polarizations in the Palatini formalism of GBD theory

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2020
A generalized Brans-Dicke (GBD) theory in the framework of Palatini formalism is proposed in this paper. We derive the field equations by using the variational approach and obtain the linearized equations by using the weak-field approximation method.

Patient–Ventilator Interaction Testing Using the Electromechanical Lung Simulator xPULM™ during V/A-C and PSV Ventilation Mode

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
During mechanical ventilation, a disparity between flow, pressure and volume demands of the patient and the assistance delivered by the mechanical ventilator often occurs. This paper introduces an alternative approach of simulating and evaluating patient–

Visualization of nanocrystal breathing modes at extreme strains [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2015
Nanoscale dimensions in materials lead to unique electronic and structural properties with applications ranging from site-specific drug delivery to anodes for lithium-ion batteries. These functional properties often involve large-amplitude strains and structural modifications, and thus require an understanding of the dynamics of these processes.

Dissipative soliton breathing dynamics driven by desynchronization of orthogonal polarization states [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Breathing solitons, i.e., dynamic dissipative solitons with oscillating pulse shape and energy caused by different mechanisms of spatiotemporal instabilities, have received considerable interest from the aspects of nonlinear science and potential ...

Gravitational breathing memory and dual symmetries

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
Brans-Dicke theory contains an additional propagating mode which causes homogeneous expansion and contraction of test bodies in transverse directions.

The breathing mode of the modified skyrmion

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 1985
Abstract The breathing mode spectrum of the modified Skyrme lagrangian is investigated by using the scaling method and semi-classical quantization. A resonance is found at an excitation energy of 480 MeV, close to the physical nucleon-Roper splitting. Difficulties in using the phase-shift analyses are discussed.

Study of cooperative breathing-mode in molecular chains [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 2012
Using a controlled analytic non-perturbative treatment, that accounts for the quantum nature of the phonons, we derive a model that generically describes cooperative breathing-mode at strong electron-phonon interaction in one-band one-dimensional systems.
