Briarenol L, a new chlorine-containing briarane from Briareum excavatum (Briareidae)

open access: closedTetrahedron Letters, 2020
Abstract Two known briarane diterpenoids, excavatolide C (1) and briacavatolide C (5), along with three new polyoxygenated analogues, briarenols F–H (2–4), have been isolated from the supercritical CO2 extraction of an octocoral identified as Briareum excavatum.

The Structure and Absolute Stereochemistry of Briaexcavatin U, a New Chlorinated Briarane from a Cultured Octocoral Briareum excavatum

open access: closedBulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, 2009
Abstract Five new briarane derivatives, briaexcavatins V–Z (1–5), have been isolated from a cultured octocoral Briareum excavatum. The structures of compounds 1–5 were established by spectroscopic methods. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction data for 2 confirmed the structure. Briarane 4 possesses an unprecedented 8,9-epoxy moiety.

Briaexcavatins V–Z, Discovery of New Briaranes from a Cultured Octocoral Briareum excavatum

open access: closedTetrahedron, 2009
Abstract Four new briarane-related diterpenoids, designated as briaexcavatins C–F ( 1 – 4 ), were isolated from the Formosan octocoral Briareum excavatum , collected off southern Taiwan coast. The structures of these new metabolites were elucidated by the interpretation of spectroscopic and chemical methods.

ChemInform Abstract: Briaexcavatolides A—J, New Diterpenes from the Gorgonian Briareum excavatum.

open access: closedTetrahedron, 2000
Abstract Ten new briarane-type diterpenes have been isolated from the gorgonian octocoral Briareum excavatum . The structures of these secondary metabolites, named briaexcavatolides A–J ( 1 – 10 ), were established by spectroscopic and chemical methods.

Excavatolides N–T, New Briaran Diterpenes from the Western Australian Gorgonian Briareum excavatum

open access: closedAustralian Journal of Chemistry, 1999
A Western Australian sample of the gorgonian Briareum excavatum , collected at Rowley Shoals, afforded one known (10) and seven new briaran diterpenes (1), (3) and (5)–(9). Gross structures and relative stereochemistries were determined by spectroscopic methods and by comparison of spectral data with those of previously reported briarans. Support for a

ChemInform Abstract: New Polyoxygenated Briaranes from Octocorals Briareum excavatum and Ellisella robusta.

open access: closedBulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, 2009
Abstract Six new polyoxygenated briarane-type diterpenoids, briaexcavatins Q–T (1–4) and robustolides J (5) and K (6), were isolated from a cultured octocoral Briareum excavatum and a sea whip gorgonian coral Ellisella robusta, respectively. The structures of briaranes 1–6 were established by spectroscopic methods.

ChemInform Abstract: Excavatoids G—K, New 8,17‐Epoxybriaranes from the Cultured Octocoral Briareum excavatum (Briareidae).

open access: closedTetrahedron, 2010
Abstract Three polyoxygenated briaranes, including two new compounds, excavatoids A (1) and B (2), and a known metabolite, briaexcavatin I (3), were isolated from the cultured octocoral Briareum excavatum. Moreover, the wild type B. excavatum, collected off southern Taiwan coast, yielded two new 5,6-epoxybriaranes, excavatoids C (4) and D (5).
