B-Methylated Amine-Boranes:Substituent Redistribution, Catalytic Dehydrogenation, and Facile Metal-Free Hydrogen Transfer Reactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Although the dehydrogenation chemistry of amine-boranes substituted at nitrogen has attracted considerable attention, much less is known about the reactivity of their B-substituted analogues. When the B-methylated amine-borane adducts, RR′NH·BH2Me (1a: R

Liquid Crystalline Elastomers in Soft Robotics: Assessing Promise and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Liquid crystalline elastomers (LCEs) are programmable soft materials that undergo large, anisotropic deformation in response to external stimuli. Their molecular alignment encodes directional actuation in a monolithic structure, making them long‐standing candidates for soft robotic systems.

Cyclic and macrocyclic peptides as chemical tools to recognise protein surfaces and probe protein-protein interactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Targeting protein surfaces and protein–protein interactions (PPIs) with small molecules is a frontier goal of chemical biology and provides attractive therapeutic opportunities in drug discovery.

Smart Nanotechnologies for Multimodal Neuromodulation and Brain Interfacing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Recent advances in smart nanotechnologies are expanding the toolbox for brain interfacing, from wireless neuromodulation and high‐resolution sensing to targeted delivery within the central nervous system. By combining responsive nanomaterials with bioinspired design, these platforms enable multimodal interactions with neurons and glia, while also ...

Heteroleptic samarium(III) halide complexes probed by fluorescence-detected L3-edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Addition of various oxidants to the near-linear Sm(II) complex [Sm(N††)2] (1), where N†† is the bulky bis(triisopropylsilyl)amide ligand {N(SiiPr3)2}, afforded a family of heteroleptic three-coordinate Sm(III) halide complexes, [Sm(N††)2(X)] (X = F, 2-F;

Bidirectional Photoswitching of a Tailored Azobenzene with Red and Far‐Red Light Involving Triplet Sensitization in an Aqueous System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The action spectrum of a tailored azobenzene is shifted toward bio‐optical window through the chemical modification of its singlet and triplet energy levels. Consequently, the bidirectional photo‐switching of azobenzene in physiological conditions is achieved when excited by red and far‐red light, which offers greater tissue penetration.

Dynamic Regulation of Supramolecular Chirality in an Amphiphilic Dimeric Macrocycle Through Azobenzene‐Based Photoisomerization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A stimuli‐responsive supramolecular system has been rationally designed enabling hierarchical control over supramolecular handedness. This hybrid architecture retains orthogonal host‐guest properties and displays unique amphiphilicity‐directed chiral self‐assembly.

Triplet-Tuning: A Novel Family of Non-Empirical Exchange-Correlation Functionals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In the framework of DFT, the lowest triplet excited state, T$_1$, can be evaluated using multiple formulations, the most straightforward of which are UDFT and TDDFT.

Accurate and Anti‐Interference Control of Computer Vision‐Assisted Light‐Driven Liquid Crystal Elastomer Actuator

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
This article introduces a computer vision‐assisted control strategy for light‐driven liquid crystal elastomer actuators. Through negative feedback regulation, the liquid crystal elastomer actuator exhibits accurate and stable bending deformation in complex environments.

Azobenzene–siloxane hybrids with lamellar structures from bridge-type alkoxysilyl precursors

open access: yesRSC Adv., 2014
Lamellar azobenzene–siloxane hybrids were prepared by self-directed assembly of three types of precursors where mono-, di- and triethoxysilyl groups are bridged by azobenzene groups with propylene linkers.
