Investigation of crystal growth by a transient Bridgman technique

Journal of Crystal Growth, 1983
Abstract The growth of TIBr by the Bridgman method is observed for a sequence of discrete sudden displacements between furnace and ampoule. For long times the crystal length follows an e-function. A linear heat flow and linear growth kinetics are considered for analysing the growth.

Cdte and CdZnTe crystal growth by horizontal bridgman technique

Journal of Crystal Growth, 1990
By means of the horizontal modified Bridgman technique, CdTe and CdZnTe crystals have been grown. The conditions of synthesis have been described and a modified gradient freeze technique has been experimented and proposed. By modifying the transverse gradient, nature of the boat, gas overpressure and temperature cycles, different growths have been ...

Charge transport properties in CZT detectors grown by the vertical bridgman technique

IEEE Nuclear Science Symposuim & Medical Imaging Conference, 2010
Great efforts are being presently devoted to the development of CdTe and CdZnTe detectors for a large variety of applications, such as medical, industrial, and space research. We present the spectroscopic properties of some CZT crystals grown by the standard vertical Bridgman method and by the boron oxide encapsulated vertical Bridgman method, which ...

Bulk crystals of tetracene grown by the vapor-Bridgman technique

Applied Physics Letters, 2005
A universal approach is described for preparing single crystals of organic materials that can only be sublimed, in this case tetracene, with extensions of several millimeters along all three dimensions. It is observed that crystals grown by this technique are more brittle than crystals grown by conventional sublimation methods.

Control of interface shape in the vertical bridgman-stockbarger technique

Journal of Crystal Growth, 1974
Abstract At very slow travel rates the solid-liquid interface shape (from the viewpoint of the solid) is convex when it lies within the heater and concave when it lies within the cooler. The dependence of interface position on travel rate, geometry of the ampoule, and on the relative temperatures of the heater and cooler increases as the ...

ZnTeO 3 crystal growth by a modified Bridgman technique

Materials Research Bulletin, 2014
Abstract Zinc Tellurite (ZnTeO 3 ) crystals were grown for the first time using a modified Bridgman method with a 2.5 kHz radio frequency (RF) furnace. Single crystal growth of ZnTeO 3 was hindered by many complicating factors, such as the evaporation of TeO 2 above 700 °C and the formation of more than one phase during crystal growth.

Growth of CdTel−x Sex by the LEC and bridgman techniques

Journal of Electronic Materials, 1975
Large-grain CdTel−x Sex boules with X (nominal) = 0.05, 0.10 and 0.15 have been grown by the liquid-encapsulated Czochralski technique, using B2O3 as the encapsulant, and also by a modified Bridgman technique. An argon pressure of 20 atm was used in both techniques. Details of the growth apparatus and procedure are presented.

Simple adaptation of the Bridgman high pressure technique for use with liquid media

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2007
We present a simple novel technique to adapt a standard Bridgman cell for the use of a liquid pressure transmitting medium. The technique has been implemented in a compact cell, able to fit in a commercial Quantum Design PPMS system, and would also be easily adaptable to extreme conditions of very low temperatures or high magnetic fields. Several media

Growth and characterization of detector-grade CdZnTeSe by horizontal Bridgman technique

Hard X-Ray, Gamma-Ray, and Neutron Detector Physics XXI, 2019
We have investigated the effect of incorporation of Se into CdZnTe (CZT) matrix on x-ray response of single crystal direct conversion detectors. We used horizontal Bridgman technique for crystal growth. We have characterized the crystals using an array of diagnostics including photo-induced current transient spectroscopy (PICTS), electric field ...

A technique for measuring the heat transfer coefficient inside a Bridgman furnace

Journal of Crystal Growth, 1993
Knowledge of the amount of heat that is conducted, advected and radiated between an ampoule and the furnace is important for understanding vertical Bridgman crystal growth. This heat transfer depends on the temperature, emissivities and geometries of both the furnace and ampoule, as well as the choice of ambient gas inside the furnace.
