Normal Globular Cluster Systems in Massive Low Surface Brightness Galaxies [PDF]
We present the results of a study of the globular cluster systems of 6 massive spiral galaxies, originally cataloged as low surface brightness galaxies but here shown to span a wide range of central surface brightness values, including two intermediate ...

Effect of Gamma Radiation on Greasy and Scoured Wool, Irradiated in Mini-Bale Form
The effect of gamma radiation dose on certain properties of wool treated in either greasy or scoured form in mini-bales was investigated. Specific properties studied include color (yellowness and brightness), solubility (alkali solubility and urea ...

Keck/LRIS Spectroscopic Confirmation of Coma Cluster Dwarf Galaxy Membership Assignments
Keck/LRIS multi-object spectroscopy has been carried out on 140 of some of the lowest and highest surface brightness faint (19 < R < 22) dwarf galaxy candidates in the core region of the Coma Cluster.

Brightness temperature constraints from interferometric visibilities
The brightness temperature is an effective parameter that describes the physical properties of emitting material in astrophysical objects. It is commonly determined by imaging and modeling the structure of the emitting region and estimating its flux ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Environmental Gradients in Lizard Colouration
Environmental pressures shape animal colouration, facilitating adaptation to local conditions. However, the extent to which climatic gradients drive colour variation in a species across its distributional range remains unclear.

Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Effects of soda lime glass waste on the physical, mechanical and aesthetics properties of sanitary-ware glazes [PDF]
Recycling some waste industrial products in the traditional ceramics is a sustainable and environmentally friendly approach. This work focused on the incorporation of soda lime glass waste (SLGW) in the manufacturing of sanitary ware glazes.

Evidence for coloration plasticity in the yellow‐bellied toad, Bombina variegata
Phenotypic adaptation in terms of background color matching to the local habitat is an important mechanism for survival in prey species. Thus, intraspecific variation in cryptic coloration is expected among localities with dissimilar habitat features (e ...

Surface Brightness of Starbursts at Low and High Redshifts
Observations in the rest frame ultraviolet from various space missions are used to define the nearby starburst regions having the highest surface brightness on scales of several hundred pc.
