Phase-Sensitive Brillouin Light Scattering Spectroscopy
INTERMAG 2006 - IEEE International Magnetics Conference, 2006We report on the first implementation of phase sensitivity into Brillouin light scattering (BLS) spectroscopy. Combined with a time-and space-resolved BLS setup this allows for access to quantities such as the phase profile and the wave front of spin wave packets and beams.

Tomographic Description of Stimulated Brillouin Scattering of Light
Journal of Russian Laser Research, 2001The process of stimulated Brillouin scattering is described by the two‐dimensional oscillator model. Photons of the Stokes mode are described by one mode of the oscillator, and acoustic phonons are described by the other mode. The interaction of photons and acoustic phonons is assumed to be quadratic in the creation and annihilation operators of ...

Effective collection of Brillouin scattered light in liquids
Applied Physics, 1973Devices for the collection of Brillouin scattered light in liquids are discussed. Optical systems have hitherto employed conical mirrors; their angular acceptance functions are presented. Novel devices proposed and discussed are the cylinder lens and the “scattering tube” (a cylindrical mirror). Results of applications are reported.

Brillouin- and critical light scattering in SrTiO3-crystals
Physics Letters, 1966Abstract Transverse and longitudinal phonon scattering was measured from 300°K to 80°K with special attention to the structure change around 110°K. A scattering (incident frequency) at the transition temperature suggests a phase transition of order n > 1.

Brillouin light scattering on cobalt-chromium films
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1986Brillouin light scattering has been used to observe high frequency thermal magnetic excitations in ion-beam sputtered Co-Cr thin films. The measurements were performed on 82 at. % Co samples, 100 A, 350 A and 750 A in thickness, sputtered on single crystal Si substrates. The Brillouin scattering signals from these Co-Cr films were quite strong.

A Brillouin Light Scattering Study of Magnetic Excitations.
1986Abstract : Of particular note are results on exchange in Li-Zn ferrite and surface magnons in thin films. Central to the research was the development of a high contrast, high resolution multipass tandem Fabry-Perot interferometer. The 4-plus-2 system has a contrast in excess of 10 to the 12th power and a background dark count below 1/3 count/second ...

Brillouin scattering of light in Sn2P2S6 feroelectric crystals
2008The acoustic properties of Sn2P2S6 and Sn2P2(Se0.28S0.72)6 ferroelectrics - semiconductors are investigated by the method of Brillouin spectroscopy at 180° scattering geometry at room temperature. The obtained values of hypersound velocity coincide with ultrasonic data. It means that we have not dispersion of sound velocity in the frequency range of 10
