Brittle-ductile transition in intrinsic fracture behavior of crystals
Physical Review Letters, 1990A transition of brittle to ductile propagation of a sharp crack in a crystal is observed by molecular-dynamics simulation and the transition mechanism shown to be the emission of dislocations at the crack tip and activation of specific slip systems appropriate to the crystal structure. Implications for extension of current theories are discussed.

Notch effect and brittle-ductile transition
Materials Science, 1998We present the fresults of the investigation of the effect of notches on the brittle-ductile transition in the process of fracture of structural materials. It is shown that the local elastoplastic state of a material in the vicinity of the notch can be described by using the corresponding stress intensity factorsK I σ , strain intensity factorsK i e ...

A model for brittle-ductile transitions in polymers
Journal of Materials Science, 1982A model is proposed for mixed-mode crack propagation in materials which show shear lips on the fracture surface. The model is shown to predict the existance of a “brittle-ductile” transition as the specimen thickness is decreased. The predictions of the model are compared with published experimental data on a number of polymers including polycarbonate,

A study of brittle‐ductile transition in polyethylene
Polymer Engineering & Science, 1997AbstractThe brittle‐ductile transition temperatures (BDTT) of polyethylenes with different degrees of crystallinity, such as LDPE, LLDPE, MDPE, and HDPE, were evaluated using Charpy impact test. The effect of the specimen cooling condition on the BDTT was a main concern in the study.
