They are closely related to muscle injury and can be the result of trauma, strenuous muscle activity, exposure to extreme environmental conditions, restraining and electrical stunning.

Pharmacokinetics of butorphanol in broiler chickens
Veterinary Record, 2011Butorphanol tartrate (2 mg/kg) was injected intravenously in 18 healthy broiler chickens to study its pharmacokinetics. Plasma samples were analysed by a highly sensitive high‐performance liquid chromatography with diode‐array detection method and pharmacokinetic parameters were calculated from the mean pooled data.

Pharmacokinetics of amoxicillin in broiler chickens
Avian Pathology, 1996Amoxicillin was given to two groups of eight chickens at a dose of 10 mg/kg of body weight, intravenously (i.v.) or orally. Plasma concentration was monitored serially for 24 h after each administration. Concentrations of amoxicillin were measured using high-performance liquid chromatography.

Salt poisoning in broiler chickens
New Zealand Veterinary Journal, 1992Abstract The clinical signs of salt poisoning in young chickens are thirst, diarrhoea and weakness. When 13 500 broilers are simultaneously affected, the deterioration that occurs in their physical condition and in the litter beneath their feet is dramatic. Two flocks of meat chickens on a small unit in North Otago were affected in this way.

Respiratory Cryptosporidiosis in Broiler Chickens
Avian Diseases, 1981A flock of 7-week-old broiler chickens in northwestern Arkansas showed signs of respiratory distress. Gross pathologic alterations were excessive exudate in the tracheas and congestion of the nasal turbinates. An adenovirus was isolated from fresh trachea specimens.

Pharmacokinetics of ofloxacin in broiler chicken
Journal of Veterinary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 2006Pharmacokinetics of ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antimicrobial agent, was determined in broiler chickens after intravenous or oral administration of a single dose (10 mg/kg). Ofloxacin concentrations in plasma were determined using a high‐performance liquid chromatography assay. Plasma concentration profiles were analyzed by the noncompartmental method.

Pharmacokinetic of sulfaclozine in broiler chickens
Food and Chemical Toxicology, 2010In this study, 30-day-old, 14 male broiler chickens were used. Two groups, each comprising 7 animals, were established. While each animal included in the first group was administered sulfaclozine at a dose of 60 mg/kg bw by intravenous route (IV), group 2 was administered sulfaclozine at the same dose but by intracrop route (IC).
