Straightforward access to oxazole‐containing piperidines through a multicomponent reaction from α‐isocyanoacetates is described. By expanding the reactivity of these a‐isocyanoacetates from aldehydes to ketones, this process efficiently delivers oxazolyl‐piperidines bearing a quaternary stereocenter as valuable scaffolds relevant to drug discovery. Synthesis of Benzopyran Atropisomers via Electrophilic Halogenation
We report a halogenation‐based method for the synthesis of axially chiral benzopyrans, tolerating diverse substituents and halogens (Br, Cl, and I). A double bromination gives bisbenzopyrans with two stereogenic axes. Preliminary enantioselective conditions yield benzopyran atropisomer with up to 56% ee.
