Bronchial Asthma with Addison’s Disease

Respiration, 1993
A 14-year-old boy with bronchial asthma who was subsequently diagnosed to have coexistent Addison's disease is presented. Both diseases responded to continuous replacement steroid therapy. We suggest that worsening of bronchial asthma symptoms in this patient may be due to the hypocortisolemia produced by the coexistent Addison's disease. Patients with

Tobacco as an allergen in bronchial disease

Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, 2007
Skin testing and sera measurements have verified the existence of tobacco specific IgE. However, the few published studies on this matter report conflicting results concerning their clinical significance. To verify if a specific clinical allergenic response against tobacco might be possible in allergenic and nonallergenic bronchial diseases. We performed

Bronchial Involvement by Hodgkin Disease

Tumori Journal, 1978
Two cases of Hodgkin disease, lymphocyte depletion type, with bronchial involvement are described. CT of bronchial and bronchiolar diseases.

RadioGraphics, 1994
Computed tomography (CT) is useful in evaluating bronchial and bronchiolar abnormalities. Common bronchial and bronchiolar abnormalities include bronchiectasis, asthma, bronchial obstruction, and various forms of bronchiolitis. Causes of bronchiectasis include cystic fibrosis, childhood viral infection, allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis, and ...

Bronchial Hyperresponsiveness in Children and Adolescents with Crohn's Disease [PDF]

open access: possibleAmerican Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, 2000
Pulmonary manifestations have been described in Crohn's disease (CD). Bronchial responsiveness to methacholine (MCh) was evaluated in 14 children with CD with no evidence of airway disease, 10 asthmatics, and 10 healthy subjects. In patients with CD total blood eosinophils and serum IgE were 0.20 x 10(9) x L(-1) (95% CI -1.68 to 2.08) and 138.4 kU x L(-

Neurogenic mechanisms in bronchial inflammatory diseases

Allergy, 2004
Neurogenic inflammation encompasses the release of neuropeptides from airway nerves leading to inflammatory effects. This neurogenic inflammatory response of the airways can be initiated by exogenous irritants such as cigarette smoke or gases and is characterized by a bi‐directional linkage between airway nerves and airway inflammation.

Bronchial Diseases and Lung Aeration in Children

Journal of Thoracic Imaging, 2001
Bronchial diseases are common in children, and are usually associated with disturbances of aeration. This article briefly summarizes the embryological development and respiratory physiology pertinent to pediatric bronchial diseases. Current diagnostic imaging tools are discussed, with an emphasis on CT, which can demonstrate bronchial pathology such as

Bronchial Brush Biopsy in Hodgkin's Disease

Chest, 1974
Twenty-six bronchial brush biopsies were performed in 21 patients with Hodgkin's disease. In most, brush biopsy was performed to differentiate between tumor, infection or the effects of radiation. In 17 bronchial brushings where Hodgkin's disease was subsequently shown to involve the lung, diagnosis of tumor was made in only four brush biopsies. In the
