Investigating the Role of A20 in Respiratory Syncytial Virus Immunopathogenesis in a BALB/c Mouse Model

open access: yesImmunity, Inflammation and Disease, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a leading cause of acute respiratory tract infections in children and the elderly worldwide. RSV pathogenesis is largely driven by exaggerated host immune responses that result in lung injury.

Steroid‐Refractory Cryptogenic Organising Pneumonia (COP) in a Patient With Mannose‐Binding Lectin (MBL) Deficiency

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
A 67‐year‐old man with cryptogenic organising pneumonia developed recurrent relapses despite corticosteroid and mycophenolate therapy. A complete absence of mannose‐binding lectin was identified, suggesting impaired apoptotic cell clearance as a contributor to persistent inflammation.

Etiology, Seasonality, and Clinical Features of Viral Respiratory Tract Infections in Children Hospitalized With Acute Bronchiolitis: A Single-Center Study

open access: yesGlobal Pediatric Health, 2017
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the viral frequency, seasonality, and clinical and demographic features of patients hospitalized with acute bronchiolitis. A cross-sectional, descriptive study was performed in 316 infants younger than 2 years of

The Burden of Respiratory Syncytial Virus in Children With Acute Otitis Media: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesInfluenza and Other Respiratory Viruses, Volume 20, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Acute otitis media (AOM) affects over 709 million individuals globally each year, more than half of whom are children < 5 years. Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a leading viral cause of pediatric respiratory illness. We aimed to estimate the burden of RSV in children < 5 years with AOM Methods We performed a systematic review ...

Bacterial Toxin Exploits Host Membrane Phospholipid as a Receptor for Binding, Entry, and Cytopathogenicity

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, Volume 125, Issue 2, Page 145-158, February 2026.
Mycoplasma pneumoniae pathogenesis relies on its CARDS toxin, which initiates cell binding and subsequent uptake by exploiting sphingomyelin, a key phospholipid found in the host plasma membrane. Maximal cellular entry and full cytotoxic effects are achieved through a synergistic mechanism that involves interaction with the protein coreceptor annexin ...

Bee products as alternatives in the treatment of viral infections

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 1, Page 33-54, 15 January 2026.
Abstract Medicines used in the treatment of viral infections usually reduce symptoms. There is a need to develop drugs that inhibit the viruses and do not merely relieve the symptoms. Natural bee products possess many pharmacological properties and are widely used in folk medicine. There are many studies on the antibacterial effects of bee products but
