Reproducibility and Diagnostic Utility of a Simplified Oil Red O Test in Infant Bronchoalveolar Lavage Samples

open access: yesDiagnostic Cytopathology, Volume 54, Issue 1, Page 23-29, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Aspiration in infants is a diagnostic challenge. The lipid‐laden macrophage index (LLMI) developed in 1987 has been used as a supportive test; however, numerous recent studies have questioned its value and reproducibility. We evaluated a simplified LLMI in bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) specimens from a pediatric cohort to assess ...

Rosmarinic Acid as A Flavonoids Ameliorated Cytokines and Oxidative Stress Biomarkers in the Lung Lavage Fluid of Rats

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2026.
Levels of IL‐4, IFN‐γ and NO2 in broncho alveolar lavage fluid (BALF). ABSTRACT Allergic asthma is a chronic respiratory condition characterized by pronounced inflammation, oxidative stress, and reversible airway obstruction. The objective of this study was to assess the effects of rosmarinic acid (RosA) on the mitigation of inflammation and oxidative ...

Effect of Targeted Probiotics on Anesthesia‐Induced Sleep Disturbances via Modulating the Gut Microbiome and Metabolites

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2026.
The diversity and abundance of the gut microbiome in rats were significantly disrupted following post‐anesthesia sleep disturbance. Lactobacillales and Bifidobacterium yogurt supplementations increased sleep quality considerably and the abundance of beneficial bacteria, while reducing wakefulness and wake‐related metabolites in the gut.
