Respiratory Syncytial Virus Exceeded SARS‐CoV‐2 and Influenza in Lower Respiratory Infection and Mortality Rates Among Patients With Hematologic Malignancies During the 2023–2024 Respiratory Virus Season

open access: yesTransplant Infectious Disease, EarlyView.
During the 2023‐2024 respiratory viral season, respiratory syncytial virus infection was associated with worse outcomes compared to infections caused by SARS‐CoV‐2 and influenza virus in patients with hematologic malignancies ABSTRACT Background Respiratory viral infections (RVIs) significantly impact patients with hematologic malignancies (HMs ...

Artificial Intelligence in Veterinary Clinical Pathology—An Introduction and Review

open access: yesVeterinary Clinical Pathology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Artificial intelligence (AI), particularly through machine learning and deep learning, presents opportunities for the enhancement of the workflow of the veterinary clinical pathologist. This review introduces basic concepts in AI in a nontechnical manner and explores the qualification and integration of AI in veterinary clinical pathology. The

Locomotor muscle dysfunction and rehabilitative exercise training in fibrotic interstitial lung disease: Where are we at and where could we go?

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Exercise limitation is a cardinal feature of fibrotic interstitial lung disease arising from pulmonary gas exchange, respiratory mechanical and cardio‐circulatory abnormalities. More recently, it has been recognized that impairment in locomotor muscle function (e.g., reduced muscle mass/strength or heightened fatigability) might also play a ...

Immune system benefits of pulmonary rehabilitation in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a respiratory disease characterized by pulmonary and systemic inflammation. Inflammatory mediators show relationships with shortness of breath, exercise intolerance and health related quality of life. Pulmonary rehabilitation (PR), a comprehensive education and exercise training programme, is the

The effects of e‐cigarette use on asthma severity in adult BALB/c mice

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Electronic cigarettes (e‐cigarettes) are often perceived to be a less harmful alternative to tobacco cigarettes. Potentially due to this perception, they are used by people with pre‐existing respiratory conditions, such as asthma, who otherwise would not smoke. Despite this, there are few studies exploring the health effects of e‐cigarette use

Orosomucoid 1 Participates in Alveolar Hypercoagulation and Fibrinolytic Inhibition Involving NF‐κB Signaling Pathway in LPS‐Induced ARDS

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 39, Issue 21, 15 November 2025.
ORM1 promotes LPS‐induced ARDS by activating NF‐κB in alveolar epithelial II cells, upregulating TF/PAI‐1 to cause hypercoagulation and fibrinolysis inhibition, leading to lung injury. ORM1 knockdown reverses these effects, indicating therapeutic potential.
