Endoscopic Bronchopleural Fistula Repair Using Autologous Fat Graft [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Bronchopleural fistula (BPF) represents a not rare catastrophic complication of pulmonary resection with high mortality rates. While surgical treatments of BPF are often technically difficult and can only be tolerated by a limited number of patients ...

Postpneumonectomy bronchial stump recurrence and bronchopleural fistula.

open access: yes, 2012
Objective: To reduce the incidence of postpneumonectomy local recurrence, and to prevent the onset of bronchopleural fistula. Background: A long bronchial stump with a short tumor-free bronchial margin has been found to be associated with a higher ...

Difficult Closure of Open‐Window Thoracostomy After Drainage of an Infected Pulmonary Bulla

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
This report describes an elderly man with an infected pulmonary bulla successfully treated with percutaneous drainage followed by open‐window thoracostomy (OWT) for persistent air leakage. Despite infection control, repeated failures of window closure occurred due to newly appearing bronchial fistulae.

Dual Suturing Technique Without Tying for Closure of the Bronchial Stump in Robotic Surgery

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 17, Issue 4, February 2026.
Dual barbed sutures secured with ligation clips provide a reliable, ligation‐free technique for bronchial stump closure in robot‐assisted thoracoscopic surgery (RATS), as preliminary results confirmed secure closure and no bronchopleural fistula in all evaluated cases.

Semi‐Continuous Versus Continuous Suturing Techniques in Bronchial Anastomosis Following da Vinci Robotic‐Assisted Sleeve Lobectomy

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 17, Issue 3, February 2026.
Semi‐continuous suturing significantly reduces bronchial anastomosis time during robotic sleeve lobectomy compared to continuous suturing, without increasing complication rates, offering a safer and more efficient technical option for bronchial reconstruction.
