Influence of Cellulose Particles on Streptomyces spp. Growth, Morphology, and Metabolite Spectrum

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 19, Issue 9, September 2026.
Cellulose particles reduce pellet size and alter morphology in 13 Streptomyces spp., but induce species‐dependent metabolic responses that frequently decrease natural product production. Cellulose‐associated mechanical stress disrupts the relationship between biosynthetic potential and metabolite output, leading to stress‐associated metabolomic shifts ...

Design, Synthesis, Antimycobacterial Evaluation, and In Silico Investigation of Benzisothiazole‐Based Hydrazide Derivatives as Potential Anti‐Tuberculosis Agents

open access: yesChemical Biology &Drug Design, Volume 108, Issue 3, September 2026.
A novel series of benzisothiazole‐based hydrazide derivatives was designed, synthesized, and evaluated for antitubercular activity. Compound 8k emerged as the most potent candidate (MIC = 0.25 μg/mL) with a high selectivity index (SI = 42) and bactericidal activity. Molecular docking and 100 ns simulations identified InhA as the probable target.

Dentine Regeneration With Calcium Strontium Silicate: In Vitro Odontogenic Differentiation, Antimicrobial Activity, Immunomodulation and In Vivo Pulpotomy in Rat Molars

open access: yesInternational Endodontic Journal, Volume 59, Issue 9, Page 1871-1886, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim This study examined the in vitro and in vivo performance of calcium strontium silicate (CSR) as a novel biomaterial for vital pulp therapy (VPT), assessing its odontogenic differentiation, antibacterial activity, immunomodulation, inflammatory response and dentine regeneration potential compared to calcium silicate (CS) and Mineral ...

Coniferyl aldehyde from the phenylpropanoid pathway targets pyruvate kinase in Dactylobotrys graminicola to confer sheath rot resistance in hulless barley

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, Volume 68, Issue 9, Page 3490-3507, September 2026.
Hulless barley resists the newly identified sheath rot disease caused by the necrotrophic fungal pathogen Dactylobotrys graminicola by releasing coniferyl aldehyde, a natural compound that disrupts energy production in the fungus. ABSTRACT Dactylobotrys graminicola (Dgr), a necrotrophic fungal pathogen, has recently been identified as the causative ...

Re‐evaluation of salt of aspartame‐acesulfame (E 962) as food additive

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 24, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract The present opinion deals with the re‐evaluation of salt of aspartame‐acesulfame (E 962) as a food additive. The Panel considered that upon ingestion, E 962 dissociates into aspartame and acesulfame ions which correspond to those of the authorised sweeteners aspartame (E 951) and acesulfame K (E 950). The Panel therefore assessed the safety of
