Brucella ovis infection in two flocks of sheep

Veterinary Record, 1994
Brucella ovis infection could not be eradicated from two flocks of sheep despite serologically testing and culling the infected rams for four years. The hypothesis that the ewes played a major role in the maintenance of the infection in both flocks was investigated by using serological, bacteriological and pathological criteria.

TheBrucella OvisComplement Fixation Test

New Zealand Veterinary Journal, 1983
Abstract Extract Sir:- For the effective control of ovine brucellosis it is imperative that veterinarians have both a sound knowledge of all aspects of the disease and access to reliable diagnostic tests. In recent years there have been a number of submissions to this journal, concerning the accuracy and use of the Brucella ovis complement fixation ...

Cholinesterase's activities of infected mice by Brucella ovis

Microbial Pathogenesis, 2019
The role of cholinesterase in inflammatory reactions has been described in several infectious diseases. However, in Brucella spp. this has not yet been studied. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate whether experimental infection by Brucella ovis alters the cholinergic activity in pro- or anti-inflammatory responses to the disease. For

Brucella ovis-induced abortion in ewes

Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 1983
SUMMARY Aborted fetuses and placental tissue from ewes in 2 flocks were submitted for diagnostic examinations. Brucella ovis was isolated from fetal lung or abomasal contents, or both. Placentitis was a consistent gross lesion. Microscopic lesions included suppurative pneumonia and placentitis.

The Complement Fixation Test Forbrucella Ovis

New Zealand Veterinary Journal, 1981
Abstract Sir:- A project to investigate the efficacy of the complement fixation test (CFT) for the diagnosis of Brucella ovis infection in rams has recently been completed. The investigation was undertaken by field and laboratory staff of the Division of Animal Health and several practitioners. The results of CFT's done with 3 antigens by waim and cold

Epidemiological Observations in a Corriedale Flock affected by Brucella ovis

Veterinary Research Communications, 1998
Brucellosis in sheep, caused by Brucella ovis, is primarily a chronic infectious disease of rams with epididymitis as its most characteristic lesion. Six hundred rams from an infected farm were clinically and serologically examined once a year, over a 3-year period. An increase from 2.1% to 6.3% in the prevalence of animals serologically positive to B.

Immunization with Brucella melitensis Rev 1 against Brucella ovis infection of rams

Veterinary Microbiology, 1987
The efficacy of Brucella Melitensis Rev 1 vaccine (Rev 1) for the prophylaxis of Brucella ovis ram epididymitis was evaluated. Twenty-nine 3-month-old rams were vaccinated with 2 X 10(9) Rev 1 and 14 were revaccinated with 5 X 10(8) at 14 months of age. Six rams remained unvaccinated as a control group. All rams were challenged with 5 X 10(8) B.

Observations onBrucella ovisCFT results

New Zealand Veterinary Journal, 1978
Abstract Three commercial flocks, deriving replacement rams from 15 parent studs, had respectively 33 of 71,13 of 31 and 8 of 82 rams positive to the Br. ovis CF test. In the first flock, clinical findings supported a diagnosis of active Brucella infection. In the other two flocks, positive results were attributed to vaccinational titres persisting for

Efficacy of Brucella suis strain 2 vaccine against Brucella ovis in rams

Vaccine, 1993
The protective efficacy against Brucella ovis of live vaccine Brucella suis strain 2 (S2) and Brucella melitensis strain Rev 1 has been evaluated in rams. Fourteen 4-month-old Brucella-free Aragonesa rams were vaccinated conjunctivally with 2 x 10(9) c.f.u. S2.

An improved immunoblotting technique for the serodiagnosis of Brucella ovis infections

New Zealand Veterinary Journal, 1997
Two antigen preparations, the routinely used Brucella ovis sodium dodecylsulfate-mercapto ethanol extract and a B. ovis Triton X-114-derived detergent-rich phase, were compared under standard conditions for their use in electrophoretic immunoblotting for confirmafory, serological testing for B.
