In vitro ingrowth of choroidal cells on Bruch's membrane

Acta Ophthalmologica, 1992
Abstract. Full thickness eyewall explants were made from human eyes, the retina and retinal pigment epithelium were removed, and the explants were maintained in vitro in Ham's F‐10 medium with 20% foetal bovine serum. Cultured explants were examined by scanning and transmission electronmicroscopy after varying lengths of time. When in vitro, choroidal

Age-Related Changes in the Ultrastructure of Bruch's Membrane

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1985
An ultrastructural study of Bruch's membrane in 68 human eyes including at least five individuals from each of ten decades of life showed that changes began in the second decade in macular specimens but were delayed in nonmacular specimens. All specimens from 20-year-old donors had altered macular Bruch's membranes.

Comparative histogenesis of Bruch's membrane (complexus basalis)

Experimental Eye Research, 1991
We documented the comparative histogenesis and timing of development of Bruch's membrane (complexus basalis) in five mammalian models with different lengths of gestation. Retinas with attached choroid from the central posterior pole of the eye were obtained from hamster, vole, rabbit, ferret and cat, from mid-gestation onward until the time at which ...

[Hereditary drusen in Bruch's membrane].

Klinische Monatsblatter fur Augenheilkunde, 1987
The left eye of a 71-year-old patient who had suffered from choroiditis guttata was removed immediately after death by enucleation. Histopathological studies revealed numerous nodular (hard) drusen, a wide variety of senile alterations of the pigment epithelium and Bruch's membrane, and the presence of multiple corpora arenacea in the subarachnoid ...
