Dynamic Control of the Brushless Doubly Fed Induction Generator Under Unbalanced Operation
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2013The brushless doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) (BDFIG) shows commercial promise for wind power generation because of its lower maintenance needs compared to the widely used DFIG. From power grid codes, installed wind turbines are sometimes required to be capable of operating under unbalanced grid conditions.

Analysis of brushless exciter operation in all modes of rotating rectifier
2009 4th IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications, 2009In this paper the operation of brushless exciter is investigated and a suitable model for use in time-domain simulation of power systems is derived. An efficient voltage-behind-reactance synchronous machine model is used for the exciter. The theoretical equations, describing the operation of rotating rectifier in three rectification modes are derived ...

Assessment of operating characteristics of brushless DC motor [PDF]
Paper presents operating characteristics of brush-less DC motor (BLDC) obtained by analytical, numerical and simulation software, allowing steady-state and transient characteristics of the motor to be computed. Based on catalog data from producer Moog, motor is simulated in closed-loop control system fed by voltage inverter.

Analysis and Design of a PM Brushless Motor for High-Speed Operations
IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 2005This paper deals with the design of a 1-kW permanent-magnet (PM) brushless motor operating in the speed range of 20-40 k r/min. The design procedure involves a parametrical investigation of the most adequate motor configuration by means of a coupled thermal and electromagnetic analysis.

Modeling of polyphase brushless exciter behavior for failing diode operation
IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 1998This paper describes an original numerical method for modeling rectified polyphase salient pole synchronous machines which are commonly utilized for large turbo-generator brushless excitation systems. Simulating this kind of system under normal (and especially abnormal) operating conditions, would be of great help for designers and operators in order ...

Electromagnetic mechanism of synchronous operation of the brushless doubly-fed machine
IAS '95. Conference Record of the 1995 IEEE Industry Applications Conference Thirtieth IAS Annual Meeting, 2002The brushless doubly-fed machine is a machine which incorporates the robustness of the squirrel cage induction machine and the speed and power factor control of a synchronous machine. The electromagnetic environment within the brushless doubly-fed machine is investigated using simple formulae in order to develop an intuitive feel for the mechanism ...

Fault-tolerant operation of brushless machines having magnets in the stator
2009 IEEE International Electric Machines and Drives Conference, 2009The doubly salient permanent magnet (DSPM) machine is a new class of brushless machine having magnets in the stator. In this paper, a strategy for fault-tolerant operation of a DSPM motor drive is proposed. In order to enhance the faulty electromagnetic performance, the DSPM motor operates in a remedial brushless AC (BLAC) mode under the open-circuit ...

Operating modes of the brushless DC motor with a 120 degrees inverter
IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 1990An analysis of the brushless DC motor with a 120 degrees inverter is presented. It is shown that the brushless DC motor-120 degrees inverter system has several distinct operating modes. The status of the motor phase current in which the inverter transistors are not conducting (gated off) is used to classify the modes of operation.

Operational principles of brushless servomotors
1990Abstract A brushless servomotor has been developed by using interdisciplinary mechatronics engineering. A mechanical switching device (commutator) is replaced by electronic circuits and controllers, resulting in a maintenance-free and high-performance servo drive. This chapter also describes various other kinds of technologies used in

Modeling and operation analysis of the cascade brushless doubly-fed machine
ICEMS'2001. Proceedings of the Fifth International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (IEEE Cat. No.01EX501), 2002The brushless doubly-fed machine is the most effective type of electrical machine suitable for driving windmills or water pumps to perform speed-adjusting, energy-saving operation, which make give it very good application prospects. In this paper, the practical mathematical model for a cascade brushless doubly-fed machine was derived in detail and the ...
