Optimal operation of the rotating transformer brushless excitation of synchronous machine

2003 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics ( Cat. No.03TH8692), 2004
The brushless excitation of synchronous machines is an attractive solution for wound rotor machines, since no slip rings are necessary. The paper investigates the rotating transformer method, where the excitation machine is a wound rotor induction machine supplied by an excitation converter.

Operating Condition Generalization Network for Fault Diagnosis of Brushless DC Motors

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics
International audience ; Existing fault diagnosis methods for brushless dc motors (BLDCMs) encounter problems of limited adaptability in terms ofmultiple faults, multiple motor types, and cross-operating conditions. Therefore, we propose an operating condition generalization network (OCGN) based on the recently proposed domain-invariant feature ...

Design criteria and operation analysis of a high speed brushless PM micro-motor

The XIX International Conference on Electrical Machines - ICEM 2010, 2010
The paper deals with some features concerning the design of a high speed brushless PM micro-motor. Some configurations are considered and analyzed, both for the magnetic structure and for the windings; on the basis of the performances and the manufacturing process, the best solutions are chosen.

A brushless generation system for microgrid operation utilizing dual stator induction generator

2014 IEEE 23rd International Symposium on Industrial Electronics (ISIE), 2014
Modern micro-grid needs to integrate all possible and economically attractive renewable energy resources. In many cases these generations are not smooth in nature and are situated in remote locations where regular maintenance is difficult. This paper proposes a brushless generation system using a dual stator winding induction generator (DSWIG).

Analytical and experimental modeling of brushless excitation system at normal operating conditions

2005 IEEE Russia Power Tech, 2005
In this paper, modeling and identification of the excitation system in the thermal unit #3 of Touss power plant in Iran is presented. Two approaches of modeling, i.e. analytical and experimental modeling are used. In the analytical method, first, using the documents and circuit diagrams in the power station, a block-diagram for excitation system was ...

Steady‐state operation of the brushless cascaded doubly fed machine: a survey

COMPEL - The international journal for computation and mathematics in electrical and electronic engineering, 2011
PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to investigate the steady‐state stability and features of the brushless cascaded doubly fed machine (BCDFM), which is made up of two wound‐rotor induction machines: the power machine (PM) and the control one, with their rotors mechanically and electrically coupled.Design/methodology/approachThe machine modelling is ...

Hall-sensor signals filtering for improved operation of brushless DC motors

2011 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2011
Brushless dc (BLDC) motors controlled by Hall-effect sensors are becoming widely available and used in a wide variety of applications. Such motors have been extensively researched in the literature under a common assumption that the Hall sensors are ideally placed 120 electrical degrees apart. However, sensor positioning may be quite inaccurate in low-

Comparison of operating modes for a brushless doubly fed reluctance motor drive

2017 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), 2017
This paper investigates a novel two-converters based operation of a Brushless Doubly Fed Reluctance Machine (BDFRM). The BDFRM has a ducted rotor, and the stator is wound with two distributed windings which are fed from two separate power converters. Operation theory with frequency sharing between the two windings is introduced and corresponding FEA ...

Sensorless operation of brushless DC motor drive designed for air conditioners

2017 International Conference on Innovations in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation and Media Technology (ICEEIMT), 2017
This paper presents the simulation for sensorless operation of BLDC motor drive with speed control, designed for Air conditioners. As the motor starts to rotate back EMF is obtained from the motor terminals using a voltage divider along with a low pass filter. Control pulses for inverter are generated based on the zero crossing of back EMF. The results

Design criteria for brushless dc motors for high-speed sensorless operation

International Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics, 2001
A design criteria for brushless dc motors for high-speed sensorless operation is described. It is shown that motors can be designed such that the free-wheeling diodes in the power electronic drive have a low conduction angle, while exhibiting high efficiency.
