Operation of Brushless DC Motor to Drive the Electric Vehicle
2018 Twentieth International Middle East Power Systems Conference (MEPCON), 2018This paper is to select the Brushless DC Motor size to be suitable to drive the electric vehicle. This selection is corresponding to the specifications of the electric vehicle. A comprehensive investigation of the brushless DC motor as well as the electric vehicle has been accomplished. The vehicle dynamics are also illustrated.

Review of position-sensorless operation of brushless permanent-magnet machines
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2006The operation of a brushless permanent-magnet machine requires rotor-position information, which is used to control the frequency and phase angle of the machine's winding currents. Sensorless techniques for estimating rotor position from measurements of voltage and current have been the subject of intensive research. This paper reviews the state of the

Sensorless operation of brushless DC motor drives
Proceedings of IECON '93 - 19th Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics, 2002The brushless DC motor requires position and speed sensors for control. However, it is desirable to eliminate these sensors from the standpoints of size and cost reduction, maintenance and reliability. The approach to the sensorless operation becomes different, depending on the flux distribution.

Modeling of polyphase brushless exciter behavior for failing diode operation
IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 1998This paper describes an original numerical method for modeling rectified polyphase salient pole synchronous machines which are commonly utilized for large turbo-generator brushless excitation systems. Simulating this kind of system under normal (and especially abnormal) operating conditions, would be of great help for designers and operators in order ...

Dynamic Control of the Brushless Doubly Fed Induction Generator Under Unbalanced Operation
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2013The brushless doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) (BDFIG) shows commercial promise for wind power generation because of its lower maintenance needs compared to the widely used DFIG. From power grid codes, installed wind turbines are sometimes required to be capable of operating under unbalanced grid conditions.

Three-Phase Operation of Brushless DC Motor Drive Controlled by a Predictive Algorithm
IECON 2006 - 32nd Annual Conference on IEEE Industrial Electronics, 2006A novel predictive control algorithm for the current control of brushless DC drives is presented in the paper. It allows to exploit the three phase of the motor simultaneously. The pulse width of the chain voltages are determined by means of the proposed algorithm, under the constraints of minimum Joule losses and torque ripple free operation.

Analysis of brushless exciter operation in all modes of rotating rectifier
2009 4th IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications, 2009In this paper the operation of brushless exciter is investigated and a suitable model for use in time-domain simulation of power systems is derived. An efficient voltage-behind-reactance synchronous machine model is used for the exciter. The theoretical equations, describing the operation of rotating rectifier in three rectification modes are derived ...

Analysis and design of a brushless motor for high speed operation
IEEE International Electric Machines and Drives Conference, 2003. IEMDC'03., 2003This paper presents the design of a 1 kW permanent magnet brushless motor operating at 20-40 krpm. The design procedure involves parametrical research of the most convenient motor configuration through a coupled thermal and electromagnetic analysis.

Commutation Torque Ripple Reduction of Brushless DC Motor in Braking Operation
IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2018In this paper, the commutation torque ripple is studied in the brushless DC motor (BLDCM) braking operation. As the phase currents flow in the reversed directions in the braking operation, the current circuits in the braking operation are different from those in the motor operation. For this reason, it is found that the commutation torque ripple can be

Sensorless operation of brushless DC motor drive designed for air conditioners
2017 International Conference on Innovations in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation and Media Technology (ICEEIMT), 2017This paper presents the simulation for sensorless operation of BLDC motor drive with speed control, designed for Air conditioners. As the motor starts to rotate back EMF is obtained from the motor terminals using a voltage divider along with a low pass filter. Control pulses for inverter are generated based on the zero crossing of back EMF. The results
