Sensorless operation of brushless DC motor drives
Proceedings of IECON '93 - 19th Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics, 2002The brushless DC motor requires position and speed sensors for control. However, it is desirable to eliminate these sensors from the standpoints of size and cost reduction, maintenance and reliability. The approach to the sensorless operation becomes different, depending on the flux distribution.

Modeling of polyphase brushless exciter behavior for failing diode operation
IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 1998This paper describes an original numerical method for modeling rectified polyphase salient pole synchronous machines which are commonly utilized for large turbo-generator brushless excitation systems. Simulating this kind of system under normal (and especially abnormal) operating conditions, would be of great help for designers and operators in order ...

Dynamic Control of the Brushless Doubly Fed Induction Generator Under Unbalanced Operation
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2013The brushless doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) (BDFIG) shows commercial promise for wind power generation because of its lower maintenance needs compared to the widely used DFIG. From power grid codes, installed wind turbines are sometimes required to be capable of operating under unbalanced grid conditions.

Three-Phase Operation of Brushless DC Motor Drive Controlled by a Predictive Algorithm
IECON 2006 - 32nd Annual Conference on IEEE Industrial Electronics, 2006A novel predictive control algorithm for the current control of brushless DC drives is presented in the paper. It allows to exploit the three phase of the motor simultaneously. The pulse width of the chain voltages are determined by means of the proposed algorithm, under the constraints of minimum Joule losses and torque ripple free operation.

Analysis of brushless exciter operation in all modes of rotating rectifier
2009 4th IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications, 2009In this paper the operation of brushless exciter is investigated and a suitable model for use in time-domain simulation of power systems is derived. An efficient voltage-behind-reactance synchronous machine model is used for the exciter. The theoretical equations, describing the operation of rotating rectifier in three rectification modes are derived ...

Analysis and design of a brushless motor for high speed operation
IEEE International Electric Machines and Drives Conference, 2003. IEMDC'03., 2003This paper presents the design of a 1 kW permanent magnet brushless motor operating at 20-40 krpm. The design procedure involves parametrical research of the most convenient motor configuration through a coupled thermal and electromagnetic analysis.

Sensorless operation of brushless DC motor drive designed for air conditioners
2017 International Conference on Innovations in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation and Media Technology (ICEEIMT), 2017This paper presents the simulation for sensorless operation of BLDC motor drive with speed control, designed for Air conditioners. As the motor starts to rotate back EMF is obtained from the motor terminals using a voltage divider along with a low pass filter. Control pulses for inverter are generated based on the zero crossing of back EMF. The results

Hall-sensor signals filtering for improved operation of brushless DC motors
2011 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2011Brushless dc (BLDC) motors controlled by Hall-effect sensors are becoming widely available and used in a wide variety of applications. Such motors have been extensively researched in the literature under a common assumption that the Hall sensors are ideally placed 120 electrical degrees apart. However, sensor positioning may be quite inaccurate in low-

Operational principles of brushless servomotors
1990Abstract A brushless servomotor has been developed by using interdisciplinary mechatronics engineering. A mechanical switching device (commutator) is replaced by electronic circuits and controllers, resulting in a maintenance-free and high-performance servo drive. This chapter also describes various other kinds of technologies used in
