Fault-tolerant operation of brushless machines having magnets in the stator
2009 IEEE International Electric Machines and Drives Conference, 2009The doubly salient permanent magnet (DSPM) machine is a new class of brushless machine having magnets in the stator. In this paper, a strategy for fault-tolerant operation of a DSPM motor drive is proposed. In order to enhance the faulty electromagnetic performance, the DSPM motor operates in a remedial brushless AC (BLAC) mode under the open-circuit ...

Optimal operation of the rotating transformer brushless excitation of synchronous machine
2003 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics ( Cat. No.03TH8692), 2004The brushless excitation of synchronous machines is an attractive solution for wound rotor machines, since no slip rings are necessary. The paper investigates the rotating transformer method, where the excitation machine is a wound rotor induction machine supplied by an excitation converter.

Modeling and operation analysis of the cascade brushless doubly-fed machine
ICEMS'2001. Proceedings of the Fifth International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (IEEE Cat. No.01EX501), 2002The brushless doubly-fed machine is the most effective type of electrical machine suitable for driving windmills or water pumps to perform speed-adjusting, energy-saving operation, which make give it very good application prospects. In this paper, the practical mathematical model for a cascade brushless doubly-fed machine was derived in detail and the ...

Design criteria for brushless dc motors for high-speed sensorless operation
International Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics, 2001A design criteria for brushless dc motors for high-speed sensorless operation is described. It is shown that motors can be designed such that the free-wheeling diodes in the power electronic drive have a low conduction angle, while exhibiting high efficiency.

Finite element analysis of brushless DC motors for flux weakening operation
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1996Finite element analysis is used to obtain the non-linear variation of axis and cross-axis flux-linkages for a dq model of an interior magnet, brushless DC motor (BLDC). The model is used to compare competing designs of the conventional form of BLDC with designs of a novel type that has q-axis flux barriers.

Operating Condition Generalization Network for Fault Diagnosis of Brushless DC Motors
IEEE Transactions on Industrial ElectronicsInternational audience ; Existing fault diagnosis methods for brushless dc motors (BLDCMs) encounter problems of limited adaptability in terms ofmultiple faults, multiple motor types, and cross-operating conditions. Therefore, we propose an operating condition generalization network (OCGN) based on the recently proposed domain-invariant feature ...
