Genetic resistance to Bacillus thuringiensis alters feeding behaviour in the cabbage looper, Trichoplusia ni.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Evolved resistance to xenobiotics and parasites is often associated with fitness costs when the selection pressure is absent. Resistance to the widely used microbial insecticide Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) has evolved in several insect species through ...

A Very-High Frequency Solution-Processed Organic Field-Effect Transistor With Improved Voltage-Normalized Frequency of Transition. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Sci (Weinh)
Increasing the frequency at which organic electronics operate while limiting the operation voltage is key to enabling future sustainable wireless applications. This work shows p‐type organic field‐effect transistors based on a molecularly doped, small molecule/polymer blend (C8‐BTBT:C16IDT‐BT), fabricated via direct‐writing and solution‐processing ...

Exogenous Gene Expression and Insect Resistance in Dual Bt Toxin Populus × euramericana ‘Neva’ Transgenic Plants

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2021
Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) insecticidal protein genes are important tools in efforts to develop insect resistance in poplar. In this study, the Cry1Ac and Cry3A Bt toxin genes were simultaneously transformed into the poplar variety Populus ...

Resistance management and integrated pest management insights from deployment of a Cry3Bb1+ Gpp34Ab1/Tpp35Ab1 pyramid in a resistant western corn rootworm landscape.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
In Nebraska USA, many populations of western corn rootworm (WCR), Diabrotica virgifera virgifera LeConte, now exhibit some level of resistance to all corn rootworm-active Bacillus thuringiensis Berliner (Bt) proteins expressed in commercial hybrids ...

p190A/ARHGAP35 and p190B/ARHGAP5 proteins in endometrial cancer: a novel cancer‐relevant paralog interplay

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study identifies ARHGAP5, in addition to the frequently mutated ARHGAP35, as significantly mutated in endometrial cancer. Mutations in both genes co‐occur and are associated with their correlated downregulation. Functional CRISPR studies show that both paralogs regulate similar pathways, including actin cytoskeleton organization.

Effectiveness of the High Dose/Refuge Strategy for Managing Pest Resistance to Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) Plants Expressing One or Two Toxins

open access: yesToxins, 2012
To delay resistance development to Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) plants expressing their own insecticide, the application of the Insect Resistance Management strategy called “High Dose/Refuge Strategy” (HD/R) is recommended by the US Environmental ...

Increased frequency of pink bollworm resistance to Bt toxin Cry1Ac in China. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Transgenic crops producing insecticidal proteins from Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) kill some key insect pests, but evolution of resistance by pests can reduce their efficacy.

Engineering IL‐4 resistant proinflammatory human myeloid cells for cancer immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a scalable workflow to generate proinflammatory human myeloid cells. CRISPR/Cas9‐edited CD34+ hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells were expanded and differentiated with M‐CSF. Deletion of STAT6 or STAT6/NFKB1 enhanced macrophage proinflammatory gene expression and cytokine secretion in the presence of IL‐4 while maintaining antibody ...

Resistance of Lepidopteran Pests to Bacillus thuringiensis Toxins: Evidence of Field and Laboratory Evolved Resistance and Cross-Resistance, Mode of Resistance Inheritance, Fitness Costs, Mechanisms Involved and Management Options

open access: yesToxins
Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) toxins are potential alternatives to synthetic insecticides for the control of lepidopteran pests. However, the evolution of resistance in some insect pest populations is a threat and can reduce the effectiveness of Bt toxins.

Mapping the Social Network Structure and Composition of Black Individuals With Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Conditions

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Our objective was to describe the social networks of Black individuals with rheumatic and musculoskeletal conditions and understand the clustering of health‐related behaviors to inform future community‐based, peer‐led interventions. Methods We used an adapted Personal Network Survey for Clinical Research (PERSNET) to map the personal social ...
