Buckling and Postbuckling of Prestressed Sandwich Arches

A nonlinear finite element model is developed to investigate the stability behavior of a novel type of structure, namely prestressed sandwich arch. A prestressed sandwich arch is formed by buckling its individual layers into an arch shape and assembling them as a sandwich composite.

Buckling and postbuckling of thin elliptical anisotropic plates

Summary: The Rayleigh-Ritz method has been used to analyse the buckling and postbuckling behaviour of thin elliptical anisotropic plates. Different layups and ellipse orientations were analysed and compared with finite element results showing good agreement in displacements and total energies in the postbuckled regime.
