The Effect of Porosity on Elastic Stability of Toroidal Shell Segments Made of Saturated Porous Functionally Graded Materials. [PDF]
Abstract This research deals with the stability analysis of shallow segments of the toroidal shell made of saturated porous functionally graded (FG) material. The nonhomogeneous material properties of porous shell are assumed to be functionally graded as a function of the thickness and porosity parameters.

Chiral Morphing of Liquid Crystal Polymer Networks. [PDF]
This paper reviews how macroscopic chirality spontaneously arises from liquid crystal polymer materials. It describes how alignment is utilized to create the mechanical anisotropy, geometric misorientation and asymmetry that leads to chiral shape morphing, how shape selection between helicoids and helices arises, the techniques used to prepare these ...

Perturbation Procedures in the Dynamic Analysis of a Toroidal Shell Segment Pressurized by a Step Load [PDF]
This paper uses perturbation techniques in asymptotic procedures to determine the normal displacement, the associated Airy stress function and the dynamic buckling load of an imperfect, finite toroidal shell segment pressurized by a step load.

ON THE CLASSICAL BUCKLING LOAD OF A TOROIDAL SHELL SEGMENT
This paper discusses the classical buckling load, the associated normal displacement and Airy stress function of a finite toroidal shell segment. Perturbation technique is adopted. The same procedure and asymptotic technique can be used to analyze the deformation of a finite toroidal shell segment under various loading conditions.

Free in-plane and out-of-plane vibrations of rotating thin ring based on the toroidal shell theory
In this paper rigorous formulae for natural frequencies of in-plane and out-of-plane free vibrations of a rotating ring are derived. An in-plane vibration mode of the ring is characterised by coupled flexural and extensional deformations, whereas an out ...
