Explaining the variation in impacts of non-native plants on local-scale species richness: the role of phylogenetic relatedness [PDF]
Aim: To assess how the magnitude of impacts of non-native plants on species richness of resident plants and animals varies in relation to the traits and phylogenetic position of the non-native as well as characteristics of the invaded site.Location ...

Long‐distance translocations of northern bobwhites are increasingly used to access source populations with sufficient densities for translocation. This study compared the survival and productivity of bobwhites translocated from the South Texas Plains and the Floridian Coastal Plain to the Floridian Coastal Plain, revealing higher survival and fecundity

Hot child in the city: Drivers of urban buffelgrass presence in Tucson, Arizona
Urban environments experience high levels of anthropogenic disturbance and have concentrated human populations, so they are at high risk of invasion by non‐native species like buffelgrass. Here we examine how urban features such as high‐traffic roadways, vacant lots, and alleys influence buffelgrass abundance in residential areas and whether ...

Exotic grass invasion and wildlife abundance and diversity, South‐Central United States
Exotic grasses dominate rangelands in parts of the South‐central United States. We reviewed the literature on the effects of exotic grasses on wildlife functional groups and species, and examined the state of the art of managing exotic vegetation in the ...

Gossypium turneri is a wild cotton that is currently threatened by tourism development and an invasive species. Our results indicate that this species has the ability of autonomous self‐pollination by style curvature, providing reproductive assurance when pollinators are scarce. This finding is relevant as current disturbance might disrupt interactions

Quality of buffelgrass seeds from different harvests
