Constructed: Building Conceptions

open access: yes, 2013
This paper is in support of my thesis exhibition entitled Constructed: Building Conceptions, which was exhibited at the Nickle Galleries at the University of Calgary from the 16th of August 2013 to the 28th of September 2013. In this paper I outline my exhibition Constructed: Building Conceptions, which questions the process through which we perceive ...

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Tumor mutational burden as a determinant of metastatic dissemination patterns

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study performed a comprehensive analysis of genomic data to elucidate whether metastasis in certain organs share genetic characteristics regardless of cancer type. No robust mutational patterns were identified across different metastatic locations and cancer types.

Evaluation of reaction-to-fire behaviour of wood chipboard: A comparative study of treatments and coatings

open access: yesMateriales de Construccion
Fires in buildings pose significant risks to property and human lives, making material selection crucial for fire safety. This study evaluates the fire reaction of wood agglomerate boards, both treated and untreated, under controlled heat exposure.

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

Optimizing the performance of concrete tiles using nano-papyrus and carbon fibers

open access: yesOpen Engineering
Concrete is considered one of the greatest innovations in the construction industry since it has significant applications in the construction field. The main limitation of concrete is the low flexural and tensile strength, especially for concrete tiles ...

Constructing Buildings and Harmonic Maps

open access: yes, 2015
In a continuation of our previous work, we outline a theory which should lead to the construction of a universal pre-building and versal building with a $\phi$-harmonic map from a Riemann surface, in the case of two-dimensional buildings for the group ...

A New Affordable Masonry System Based on Unfired Clay Sandwich Panel [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Nowadays, construction is one of the main sectors that produces waste and consume more materials and energy, so there is a growing need for alternative construction technologies that allow us to modify this situation.
