Functionalized Helical Building Blocks for Nanoelectronics
Organic Letters, 2018Molecular building blocks are designed and created for the cis- and trans-dibrominated perylenediimides. The syntheses are simple and provide these useful materials on the gram scale. To demonstrate their synthetic versatility, these building blocks were used to create new dimeric perylenediimide helixes.

Building the workforce analytics function
This chapter examines the development of workforce analytics (WFA) capabilities in organizations. It proposes a new WFA maturity matrix based on the equilibrium between “push” factors (WFA team capabilities) and “pull” factors (organizational demand).McCartney, Steven, Minbaeva, Dana

Lexical Functions and Vocabulary Building
Die Unterrichtspraxis / Teaching German, 1981This paper is concerned with an area of second language learning which has long been regarded as idiomatic and therefore not amenable to systematization.' Specifically, we have in mind the lexical combinability of words, i.e., the tendency of one word to occur with another word or words to convey a particular meaning.

Building functional descriptions
1985In this paper a functional approach to object description for computer vision is suggested as a tool to deal efficiently with the wide variations of the shapes of many common objects. Two main problems are discussed. The first one is how to build functional descriptions, starting from a set of functional primitives, by means of a suitable conceptual ...

Hydroxy-Functionalized Dendritic Building Blocks
European Journal of Organic Chemistry, 1998A convenient and practical multi-gram procedure for the synthesis of second- (G2; 4a, 5a, 5d) and third-generation (G3; 6a) dendrons with orthogonally protected functional groups in the periphery (hydroxy) and at the focal point (carboxylic acid) is described.

Fragility Functions of Masonry Buildings
2013This chapter proposes a method for the vulnerability assessment of ordinary masonry buildings at territorial scale, to be used in the framework of a probabilistic seismic risk analysis. The classification of the built environment is based on the SYNER-G taxonomy and is dependent on the available data in the study area; it consists in the aggregation of

Building blocks with diverse functions
Trends in Biotechnology, 1998Biological systems consist of hierarchical composite materials with multiple functions, adapting to their environment as a result of natural selection. Protein has the most important of these building-block roles, together with polysaccharides like cellulose and starch.
