Entropic collapse and extreme first-passage times in discrete ballistic transport

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics
We investigate the extreme first-passage statistics of $N$ non-interacting random walkers on hierarchical ballistic graphs. By distinguishing between transport limited by escape from localized initial states (injection-limited) and transport limited by ...

Metastatic niche shaped by host factors influences disseminated cancer cell fate

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Metastasis is shaped not only by cancer cells but also by the environments they encounter. This review explores how factors such as aging, diet, the microbiome, lifestyle, and environmental exposures remodel organ‐specific niches in the lung, liver, bone, and brain, influencing where metastatic cells survive, remain dormant, or grow, and ultimately ...

Improving efficiency within the manufacturing sector through the implementation of queue-length dependent bulk service strategies with vacation scheduling

open access: yesSongklanakarin Journal of Science and Technology (SJST)
The study examines the batch arrival queue-length-dependent bulk service with multiple vacations. Service provision is that the batch depends upon the queue length. The study incorporates supplementary variables on account of variations in service time

Simulated Annealing Integrated with Discrete-Event Simulation for Berth Allocation in Bulk Ports Under Demurrage Constraints

open access: yesEng
Efficient berth allocation remains a critical challenge in bulk port operations due to the stochastic nature of vessel arrivals and the complex interaction among loading resources.

Invisible but not inaccessible—Revealing transient oligomers formed by intrinsically disordered proteins with solution NMR and complementary methods

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Transient oligomers formed by intrinsically disordered proteins may be ‘invisible’ to direct detection yet remain accessible to solution NMR through equilibrium‐exchange measurements and pressure‐jump experiments. Complementary methods report on mass, stoichiometry, selected distance distributions, morphology, and internal packing.

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

Integrated Inbound and Outbound Scheduling for Coal Port: Constraint Programming and Adaptive Local Search

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
The effective production scheduling of dry bulk ports is a challenging task that demands meticulous planning, task allocation based on customer requirements, as well as strategic route and timing scheduling.

Flow Enabled Target Capture Halbach‐based magnetic enrichment increases circulating tumor cell capture from blood in metastatic cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pair‐wise comparison of the CellSearch and FETCH enrichment technologies for circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from metastatic breast, prostate, and small cell lung cancer patients shows an increased capture of CTCs using FETCH enrichment. The clinical implementation of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) as a predictive tool for therapy efficacy in the ...

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic
