Cone bundles [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 1977
A theory of normal bundles for locally knotted codimension two embeddings of PL manifolds is developed. The classifying space for this theory is Cappell and Shaneson’s space B R N 2 BR{N_2} .

Rad27/FEN1 prevents accumulation of Okazaki fragments and ribosomal DNA copy number changes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The budding yeast Rad27 is a structure‐specific endonuclease. Here, the authors reveal that Rad27 is crucial for maintaining the stability of the ribosomal RNA gene (rDNA) region. Rad27 deficiency leads to the accumulation of Okazaki fragments and changes in rDNA copy number.

The role of fibroblast growth factors in cell and cancer metabolism

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fibroblast growth factor (FGF) signaling regulates crucial signaling cascades that promote cell proliferation, survival, and metabolism. Therefore, FGFs and their receptors are often dysregulated in human diseases, including cancer, to sustain proliferation and rewire metabolism.

The anti‐CRISPR protein AcrIE8.1 inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system by directly binding to the Cascade subunit Cas11

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we present the structure of AcrIE8.1, a previously uncharacterized anti‐CRISPR protein that inhibits the type I‐E CRISPR‐Cas system. Through a combination of structural and biochemical analyses, we demonstrate that AcrIE8.1 directly binds to the Cas11 subunit of the Cascade complex to inhibit the CRISPR‐Cas system.

Adhering to a national surgical care bundle reduces the risk of surgical site infections.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
BackgroundIn 2008, a bundle of care to prevent Surgical Site Infections (SSIs) was introduced in the Netherlands. The bundle consisted of four elements: antibiotic prophylaxis according to local guidelines, no hair removal, normothermia and 'hygiene ...

Geometry of Bounded Frechet Manifolds

open access: yes, 2018
In this paper we develop the geometry of bounded Fr\'echet manifolds. We prove that a bounded Fr\'echet tangent bundle admits a vector bundle structure.
