Improvement of fuel burn-up fraction in a tokamak reactor by installing a palladium-alloy membrane
Nuclear Fusion, 1981The possibility of improving the fuel burn-up fraction (of reducing the pumped-out fraction) by installing a palladium-alloy membrane on the duct region of the main evacuating system is investigated. The emphasis is mainly placed on a tokamak reactor with a divertor. It is shown that the burn-up fraction can be improved by a factor of three to four.

Stromal vascular fraction improves deep partial thickness burn wound healing
Objective: The practice of early burn wound excision and wound closure by immediate autologous skin or skin substitutes is the preferred treatment in extensive deep partial and full-thickness burns.

Experiment on the increase of the burn-up fraction of fuel assemblies in VVR-440 reactor
Soviet Atomic Energy, 1986The rated fuel lifetime in a standard VVER-440 reactor includes three partial fuel rechargings). One way of intensifying the fuel use is to increase the number of partial reactor rechargings with a simultaneous increase of the full fuel lifetime. This mode of fuel use makes it possible to raise the fuel burn-up fraction. Two conditions, however, should

Fuel burn-up fraction in RBMK-1000 reactor
Soviet Atomic Energy, 1986The authors calculate fuel burnup fractions for the four RBMK reactors of the Leningrad plant for both unloaded and loaded fuel and graph the predicted dependence of average burnup for both scenarios on reactor operation time, the distribution function for a steady-state mode of continuous fuel recharging, and a histogram of fuel element distribution ...

Abstract Two weak points in Performance Assessment (PA) exercises regarding the alteration of Spent Nuclear Fuel (SNF) are the contribution of the so-called Instant Release Fraction (IRF) and the effect of High Burn-Up Structure (HBS). This manuscript focuses on the effect of HBS in matrix (long term) and instant release of a Pressurised Water ...

Effects of matrix composition on instant release fractions from high burn-up nuclear fuel
MRS Proceedings, 2013ABSTRACTThe release of radionuclides from spent nuclear fuel in contact with water is controlled by two processes – the dissolution of the UO2grains and the rapid release of fission products segregated either to the gap between the fuel and the cladding or to the UO2grain boundaries.

Effect of Fuel Fraction on Small Modified CANDLE Burn-up Based Gas Cooled Fast Reactors
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2010A conceptual design study of Gas Cooled Fast Reactors with Modified CANDLE Burn‐up has been performed. The objective of this research is to get optimal design parameters of such type reactors. The parameters of nuclear design including the critical condition, conversion ratio, and burn‐up level were compared.

AbstractThe so-called Instant Release Fraction (IRF) is considered to govern the dose released from Spent Fuel repositories. Often, IRF calculations are based on estimations of fractions of inventory release based in fission gas release [1]. The IRF definition includes the inventory located within the Gap although a conservative approach also includes ...

Burn severity mapping from Landsat MESMA fraction images and Land Surface Temperature [PDF]
14 p.Forest fires are incidents of great importance in Mediterranean environments. Landsat data have proven to be suitable for evaluating post-fire vegetation damage and determining different levels of burn severity, which is crucial for planning post ...
