Effects of Sex-steroid Hormones on Lymphocyte Genesis in the Central Lymphoid Organs of Chickens [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Lymphocytes play essential roles as a kind of leukocyte in the defense mechanism of animals against infectious factors. Lymphocytes are classified into two subsets, T lymphocytes and B lymphocytes in mammals or avian species.

The Transcriptional Landscape of Marek’s Disease Virus in Primary Chicken B Cells Reveals Novel Splice Variants and Genes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Marek’s disease virus (MDV) is an oncogenic alphaherpesvirus that infects chickens and poses a serious threat to poultry health. In infected animals, MDV efficiently replicates in B cells in various lymphoid organs.

Bursa body index as a visual indicator for the assessment of bursa of Fabricius

open access: yes, 2017
The objective of the present study was to identify the significance of the Bursal-Body index (BB index) as a tool in assessing the health status of a chicken flock especially those under experimental condition.

The mitochondrial and endoplasmic reticulum pathways involved in the apoptosis of bursa of Fabricius cells in broilers exposed to dietary aflatoxin B1

open access: yesOncoTarget, 2016
Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), a toxic metabolite produced by some fungi, exerts well-known hepatocarcinogenic and immunosuppressive effects, the latter can increase the apoptotic immune cells in vitro.

Using a Multi‐Attribute Decision‐Making Method to Evaluate the Effect of in Ovo Injection of Valine and Tryptophan on the Growth Performance of Broiler Chickens

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 4, July 2025.
He multiple‐attribute method aids management decisions in in ovo nutrition. In ovo amino acid administration reduces embryo mortality risk late in incubation. In ovo injection of 0.55% L‐tryptophan on day 14 improves broiler growth. In ovo 0.55% L‐tryptophan significantly influenced growth metrics at 21 days.

In vivo evaluation of ziram induced acute toxicity on pathomorphology of broiler chicken [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Fungicides are usually used in agriculture and often find their way in poultry feed. Therefore, a study was undertaken to study the in vivo effect of one such fungicide (ziram) induced intoxication on pathomorphology of broiler chicken.

The Effects of Green LED Lighting During Incubation on Embryo Growth, Hatching Performance, Post‐Hatch Growth Performance, Intestinal Morphology, Slaughter and Carcass Characteristics

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 4, July 2025.
Continuous green LED lighting during incubation altered broiler development by reducing heart and hatch weight, shortening incubation time, and impairing post‐hatch growth and jejunal morphology without affecting hatchability. ABSTRACT Background In recent years, research has increasingly focused on the role of light exposure in stimulating embryonic ...
