On 2014 October 30, a band-splitted type II radio burst associated with a coronal mass ejection (CME) observed by the Atmospheric Imaging Assembly (AIA) on board the Solar Dynamic Observatory (SDO) occurred over the southeast limb of the Sun.

Posttranslational control of membrane-skeleton (ankyrin and alpha beta- spectrin) assembly in early myogenesis [PDF]
Adult chicken skeletal muscle cells express polypeptides that are antigenically related to alpha-spectrin (Mr 240,000) and beta-spectrin (Mr 220,000-225,000), the major components of the erythrocyte membrane- skeleton, and to ankyrin (Mr 237,000; also ...

Self‐organized Criticality in Neuromorphic Nanowire Networks With Tunable and Local Dynamics
Memristive nanowire networks (NWNs) are shown to be electrically tunable to a critical state where specific local dynamics evaluated by multiterminal characterization are exploited as feature selection in nonlinear transformation (NLT) tasks.

The fabrication of patterned transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD)/graphene heterostructures via direct laser writing reveals new interface chemistry and enables efficient, customizable assembly. Selective laser irradiation of functionalized TMD/graphene triggers localized reactions, forming chemically modified interfaces.

Reduced Protein Expression in a Virus Attenuated by Codon Deoptimization
A general means of viral attenuation involves the extensive recoding of synonymous codons in the viral genome. The mechanistic underpinnings of this approach remain unclear, however.

Synchronization and spindle oscillation in noisy integrate-and-fire-or-burst neurons with inhibitory coupling [PDF]
We propose another integrate-and-fire model as a single neuron model. We study a globally coupled noisy integrate-and-fire model with inhibitory interaction using the Fokker-Planck equation and the Langevin equation, and find a reentrant transition of oscillatory states.

A Unified Model of Short and Long Gamma-Ray Bursts, X-Ray Rich Gamma-Ray Bursts, and X-Ray Flashes [PDF]
We propose a possible unified model of short and long gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), X-ray rich GRBs, and X-ray flashes. The jet of a GRB is assumed to consist of multiple sub-jets or sub-shells (i.e., an inhomogeneous jet model). The multiplicity of the sub-jets along a line of sight n_s is an important parameter. If n_s is large (>> 1) the event looks like

The PDEM‐based SIGPE provides a dynamic nanophase from Li+‐bridged molecular self‐association, enhancing electrochemical stability and facilitating uniform Li+ ion flux at the interface. This unique solvation structure results in a hetero species‐driven inorganic‐rich SEI and long‐term cycle stability, suggesting that a PFAS‐free Li+‐containing monomer
