Quantitative Electron Beam‐Single Atom Interactions Enabled by Sub‐20‐pm Precision Targeting

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Atomic lock‐on (ALO) is a rapid, low‐dose in situ technique in scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) that achieves sub‐20 picometer (pm) beam positioning. A sparse annular scan collects positional information while avoiding irradiation of the target site.

The Probiotic Parabacteroides johnsonii Ameliorates Metabolic Disorders Through Promoting BCAAs to BSCFAs Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Clinical discovery and the proposed underlying mechanism by how P. johnsonii ameliorated metabolic disorders. Abstract The gut bacterium Parabacteroides spp. is increasingly recognized for its therapeutic potential in treating metabolic disorders. However, the role of Parabacteroides johnsonii in metabolic disorders is never reported.

Glucose‐Responsive PAGR1‐Regulated Skeletal Muscle Gene Program Controls Systemic Glucose Homeostasis and Hepatic Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study reveals that PAXIP1‐associated glutamate‐rich protein 1 (PAGR1), a glucose‐responsive regulator in skeletal muscle, modulates systemic glucose homeostasis and hepatic metabolism. Muscle‐specific PAGR1 deletion enhances insulin signaling, promotes glucose transporter 4 (GLUT4) translocation, and protects against high‐fat‐diet‐induced insulin ...

Butyrate boosts microbicidal macrophages [PDF]

open access: yesNature Reviews Immunology, 2019
The short-chain fatty acid butyrate, derived from commensal bacteria in the gut, is shown to be a specific inducer of intestinal macrophage microbicidal functions.

The Kinetics of Oxidation of Aldehydes to Acidsand Acid Anhydrides. II [PDF]

open access: yes, 1956
Continuing our studies on the catalytic decomposition of peracids into acids and on the interaction of peracids with aldehydes into acids and acid anhydrides, we examined the influence of other mixed catalysts, i. e.

Targeted Intervention Strategies for Maternal–Offspring Transmission of Christensenellaceae in Pigs via a Deep Learning Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study deciphers maternal‐driven microbial transmission in pigs using a deep learning model (maternal–offspring microbial transmission model), identifying Christensenellaceae R‐7 group as a key transmitted taxon. Filtered galacto‐oligosaccharides‐targeted Christensenellaceae R‐7 group alters offspring microbial functions via maternal ...

Optimal long-lasting coatings caused by tailor-made mixtures in defensive secretions of some thrips species (Phlaeothripidae, Thysanoptera) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008

STING COPII ER Export Trafficking and Signaling Primed by Phosphorylation Switches

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This schematic outlines STING trafficking and signaling via coat protein II (COPII)‐mediated endoplasmic reticulum (ER) export. Following cyclic GMP‐AMP (cGAMP) stimulation, TANK‐binding kinase 1 (TBK1) activates on COPII vesicles, partially dissociating into the cytosol to phosphorylate ER‐localized STING, creating pSGME/pFS COPII‐sorting motifs ...
