Butyrylcholinesterase in Alzheimer’s Disease
1994Butyrylcholinesterase (BChE, EC.3.1.1.8) is a hydrolytic enzyme of unknown function. Although it is usually considered in conjunction with acetylcholinesterase (AChE), BChE is the product of a different gene, has a much more restricted distribution in the mammalian brain and has no major role in conventional cholinergic neurotransmission.
