Abstract Trace organic compounds (TrOCs) in lotic systems pose risks for ecosystem and human health. TrOCs can enter groundwater along losing river sections, yet little is known about the spatial extent of infiltration zones and the biogeochemical factors controlling the spatial variability of TrOC reactivity and removal, particularly along river‐to ...

C16 Phase High Entropy Borides With High Magnetic Anisotropy
Rare‐earth‐free C16‐phase high entropy boride thin films exhibit enhanced magnetic anisotropy with coercivities surpassing their binary and ternary counterparts. Combinatorial synthesis of (Fe‐Co‐Ni‐Mn)2B films combined with density functional theory enables mapping of the magnetic properties across the composition space, revealing high entropy ...

Ene reductases known for the reduction of C═C double bonds were shown to reduce C═N bonds, thus (a) selected oximes bearing two ester groups attached to the oximo moiety were reduced to the aliphatic amine moiety, as well as (b) a nitro group and a (c) hydrazone moiety was accepted as well.

Tracing Seasonal Ground Thaw with Stream Chemistry in Alaskan Arctic Permafrost Catchments
In permafrost regions, thaw dynamics influence hydrological and biogeochemical processes, yet these dynamics are difficult to observe at catchment scales. We tested nine solutes as tracers of thaw depth across three Arctic catchments. Five solutes were effective tracers in at least one catchment with differences due to varying landscape characteristics.

A Linear Analysis of a Blended Wing Body (BWB) Aircraft Model [PDF]
In this article a linear analysis of a Blended Wing Body (BWB) aircraft model is performed. The BWB concept is in the attention of both military and civil sectors for the fact that has reduced radar signature (in the absence of a conventional tail) and ...

Importance of Self‐Weighing Within the Context of a Postpartum Weight Loss Intervention
ABSTRACT Background Postpartum weight retention is a key concern due to the risk of escalating overweight/obesity, as well as the risk of diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease. Self‐weighing may be a helpful strategy for reducing weight retention; however, the ideal frequency of self‐weighing is not known.
