Beyond C-band in optical networks

This paper investigates provisioning in multi-band optical networks. Physical impairments arising from the activation of wide spectrum are taken into account through the generalized Gaussian Noise model. Simulations show that most potentials are attained by exploiting S and E bands. Insights are provided about the enabling technology.

C-Banding of Plant Chromosomes

C-banding visualizes regions of chromosomes containing constitutive heterochromatin. It creates distinct patterns along the chromosome length and allows precise chromosome identification if C-bands are present in sufficient numbers. It is performed on chromosome spreads generated from fixed material, usually root tips or anthers.

Scanning Electron Microscopy of C-Banding

The mechanism of C-banding was analyzed on the basis of the structural changes of the 30 nm chromatin fibre using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). SEM of non-banded metaphase spreads of L-cells revealed chromosomes consisting of 30 nm chromatin fibre loops along the entire length.
