c-Maf Induces Monocytic Differentiation and Apoptosis in Bipotent Myeloid Progenitors

Blood, 1999
The transcriptional mechanisms that drive colony-forming unit granulocyte-macrophage (CFU-GM) myeloid progenitors to differentiate into cells of either the granulocytic or monocytic lineage are not fully understood. We have shown that the c-Maf and c-Myb transcription factors physically interact in myeloid cells to form inhibitory complexes that hinder

Regulation of GM-CSF expression by the transcription factor c-Maf

Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, 2007
Inflammation is a key feature of asthma and allergic disease. The proinflammatory cytokines IL-4, IL-5, and IL-13 are clustered on chromosome 5q with GM-CSF in close proximity, and each of these cytokines has been implicated in the pathogenesis of inflammatory disease.

The Transcription Factor c-Maf Controls Touch Receptor Development and Function

Science, 2012
Telling Sandpaper from Satin Pacinian corpuscles are mechano-receptors tuned to detect high-frequency, low-amplitude, signals. Found in human palm and fingertips, they are useful for discrimination of rough and smooth textures, a sensitivity seemingly amplified by the ridges of fingerprints.

MafB/c-Maf Deficiency Enables Self-Renewal of Differentiated Functional Macrophages

Science, 2009
Self-Renewing Macrophages The capacity for self-renewal is associated with progenitor cell populations and is lost upon differentiation. Aziz et al. (p. 867 ) discovered an exception to this rule when mouse monocytes and macrophages ...

Functional Analysis of Transcription Factor c-Maf in Embryonic Hematopoiesis.

Blood, 2009
Abstract Abstract 3646 Poster Board III-582 c-Maf is one of the large Maf (musculoaponeurotic fibrosarcoma) transcription factors that belong to the AP1 super family of basic leucine zipper proteins. c-Maf has been shown to be important for the regulation of IL-4 and IL-21 gene expression in T-helper-2 cells

c-Maf determines IL-10 regulation during Th17 polarization (47.22)

The Journal of Immunology, 2009
Abstract IL-10 production by Th17 cells is critical for limiting autoimmunity and inflammatory responses. Gene array analysis on Stat6 and T-bet double deficient Th17 cells identified the Th2 transcription factor c-Maf to be synergistically up-regulated by IL-6 plus TGFβ, and associated with Th17 IL-10 production.
