Tissue‐retained needles in people who inject drugs: A systematic review of case reports and series on clinical presentations, complications and management

open access: yesAddiction, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and aims Tissue‐retained needles from intravenous drug use can cause rare but severe complications, ranging from local to systemic infections to needle embolization. Due to the limited evidence and the lack of epidemiological studies on the issue, we systematically reviewed the literature focusing on case reports and case series on ...

Daratumumab plus bortezomib and dexamethasone (Dara‐VD) in newly diagnosed Mayo 2004 stage IIIA and IIIB light‐chain amyloidosis: Long‐term follow‐up results from a prospective phase 2 study

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Summary Anti‐CD38 monoclonal antibodies dramatically improve the prognosis in immunoglobulin light‐chain (AL) amyloidosis, yet patients with end‐stage (Mayo 2004 IIIB) disease are typically excluded from prospective trials. To evaluate the daratumumab plus bortezomib and dexamethasone (Dara‐VD) regimen in Mayo 2004 stage III patients, we conducted a ...

Biochemical bone biomarkers in plasma cell dyscrasias

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Visual abstract depicting that bone turnover markers reflect dynamic alterations in bone remodelling across the spectrum of plasma cell dyscrasias but remain limited by assay variability, biological confounding and incomplete integration with imaging and risk stratification.

Non‐canonical PKG1 regulation in cardiovascular health and disease

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
It is well established that the cyclic GMP‐dependent protein kinase I (PKG1) is canonically activated by cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), enabling its regulation of vascular tone, cardiac function and smooth muscle homeostasis. However, diverse non‐canonical stimuli of PKG1 have also been identified.

New biosensors and transgenic mice for multiplex cGMP imaging

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose Cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) is a versatile second messenger that is important for human (patho‐)physiology and pharmacotherapy. Live‐cell imaging of cGMP with biosensors allows to elucidate its spatiotemporal dynamics in real time under close‐to‐native conditions. However, to monitor two separate cGMP pools or cGMP/cAMP
