Biomimetic Nanomedicine for Senescence‐Modulated Immune Activation Enhances Immunotherapy Efficacy in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A multifunctional mPDZM nanoplatform is developed in this study. mPDZM integrates chemotherapy‐induced senescence, selective senolysis, and STING‐mediated immune activation. mPDZM effectively clears senescent tumor cells, remodels the tumor immune microenvironment, and enhances antitumor T‐cell responses.

The interrelationship between media reports and the recession in Croatia

open access: yesCroatian Review of Economic, Business and Social Statistics, 2017
This paper builds upon the Economist’s R-word (recession) index by forming a Croatian version of a media news-based economic uncertainty measure. Using the web archives of the four major Croatian news portals (Index.hr, Jutarnji list, Večernji list and ...

Market risk, value-at-risk and exponential weighting

open access: yesEconomics and Business Review, 2022
Banks and financial intermediaries are exposed to market risk. The aim of the paper is to explore the implications of legal requirements on market risk valuation. The focus is on the calculation of the permissible weighting factor of the concept of value-

An example of spectral phase transition phenomenon in a class of Jacobi matrices with periodically modulated weights

open access: yes, 2007
We consider self-adjoint unbounded Jacobi matrices with diagonal q_n=n and weights \lambda_n=c_n n, where c_n is a 2-periodical sequence of real numbers. The parameter space is decomposed into several separate regions, where the spectrum is either purely

Lattice Carbon‐Mediated Ultralow‐Barrier C–C Coupling for Selective CO Electroreduction to Ethylene

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Combined DFT and molecular dynamics simulations reveal that while the lattice carbon at the MXene edge cannot directly bind CO2 to form ethylene, it acts as an active center to promote C─C coupling between adjacent *CO intermediates for ethylene production.

Opium trade and use during the Late Bronze Age: Organic residue analysis of ceramic vessels from the burials of Tel Yehud, Israel

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract Organic residue analysis was conducted on various vessels from burials at Tel Yehud, Israel. The analyses led to new reliable evidence for the presence of opioid alkaloids and their decomposition products. This research revitalizes a decades‐old discussion on the presence and function of the opium trade across a cultural region of utmost ...

MCMC and GLMs for estimating regression parameters: Evidence from non-life Egyptian insurance sector [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Humanities and Applied Social Sciences, 2019
Purpose – The purpose of this study is to estimate the linear regression parameters using two alternative techniques. First technique is to apply the generalized linear model (GLM) and the second technique is the Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method ...

Impact of positivity and complete positivity on accessibility of Markovian dynamics

open access: yes, 2005
We consider a two-dimensional quantum control system evolving under an entropy-increasing irreversible dynamics in the semigroup form. Considering a phenomenological approach to the dynamics, we show that the accessibility property of the system depends ...

Volatility analysis and forecasting of vegetable prices using an ARMA‐GARCH model: An application of the CF filter and seasonal adjustment method to Korean green onions

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
Abstract The vegetable market experiences significant price fluctuations due to the complex interplay of trend, cyclical, seasonal, and irregular factors. This study takes Korean green onions as an example and employs the Christiano–Fitzgerald filter and the CensusX‐13 seasonal adjustment methods to decompose its price into four components: trend ...

Analysis of a variational model for nematic shells

open access: yes, 2016
We analyze an elastic surface energy which was recently introduced by G. Napoli and L.Vergori to model thin films of nematic liquid crystals. We show how a novel approach that takes into account also the extrinsic properties of the surfaces coated by the
