Simulation of multiple ordered phases in C23 n-alkane
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2011Normal alkanes display multiple ordered phases, including an orthorhombic crystal (X) and two partially ordered rotator phases (RI and RII). The rotator phase transitions X–RI and RI–RII are of interest because they are weakly first-order, and because experiments suggest that crystalline polyethylene may nucleate via a metastable rotator phase. A highly stereoselective synthesis of the C10–C23 fragment of (–)-dictyostatin
Chemical Communications, 2007A highly stereoselective synthesis of the C10-C23 fragment of (-)-dictyostatin has been achieved using a Carreira alkynylation and a Marshall-Tamaru allenylzinc addition as key steps.

A C23-type Modification of ThAs2
Nature, 1966ThAs2 was reported to crystallize in the tetragonal Cu2Sb or C38 type of structure1. In an attempt to synthesize this phase by reacting arsenic with thorium powder at temperatures between 600° and 900° C, a new modification was obtained. This low-temperature form α-ThAs2 is orthorhombic and of the C23 type. Its lattice constants are:
