Reevaluation of the C3a active site using short synthetic C3a analogues

European Journal of Immunology, 1990
AbstractIn 1980 the C‐terminal pentapeptide LGLAR (C3a 73–77) was described (Caporale, L. H. et al. J. Biol. Chem. 1980. 255: 10758) as the minimal sequence inducing a C3a‐specific activity. We have synthesized C3a‐analogue peptides connected to non‐peptidic acyl residues known to potentiate biological activity.

Understanding the mechanisms behind the time-dependent viscoelasticity of fresh C3A–gypsum paste

Cement and Concrete Research, 2020
This paper monitored the viscoelasticity development of fresh C3A-gypsum paste in situ by small amplitude oscillation shear (SAOS) within 5 h. The development of viscoelasticity of paste with time can be characterized by two different stages.

The Complement C3a and C5a Signaling in Renal Diseases: A Bridge between Acute and Chronic Inflammation

Nephron
The complement system, a cornerstone of the innate immune defense, typically confers protection against pathogens. However, in various clinical scenarios the complement’s defensive actions can harm host cells, exacerbating immune and inflammatory ...

A quantitative study of the C3A hydration

Cement and Concrete Research, 2019
The effect of fineness, gypsum content and water – cement (w/c) ratio on the hydration of C3A systems have been quantitatively investigated using a combination of experimental techniques (isothermal calorimetry, TGA, XRD, 27Al MAS NMR) and numerical ...

Anaphylatoxins: C3a and C5a

1978
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the structural and functional characterization of anaphylatoxins, spasmogenic substances released during complement activation. These low molecular weight peptide fragments of C3 and C5 elicit a variety of cellular responses, which implies that they play a significant role in inflammation and acute allergic ...

C3a(desArg) does not bind to and signal through the human C3a receptor

Immunology Letters, 1999
Contradictory results have been published in the past regarding the functional responses of different cell types to the anaphylatoxin C3a and its natural catabolite C3a(desArg). To elucidate the interaction of the C3a receptor (C3aR) with its ligand(s) we studied the binding of human recombinant C3a (rC3a) and rC3a(desArg) to RBL-2H3 transfectants ...

In response to complement anaphylatoxin peptides C3a and C5a, human vascular endothelial cells migrate and mediate the activation of B‐cells and polarization of T‐cells

The FASEB Journal, 2020
The vascular endothelium has been discovered in the past several years to be important in shaping the cellular immune response. During the immune response the vascular endothelium is constantly perturbed by biologically potent molecules, including the ...

In situ nano-scale observation of C3A dissolution in water

Cement and Concrete Research, 2020
Historically, sparingly soluble mineral dissolution in aqueous solutions is measured at macroscopic scales, mostly by indirect methods that track the solution composition over times ranging from minutes to years.

Potent Thiophene Antagonists of Human Complement C3a Receptor with Anti-Inflammatory Activity.

Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2020
Structure-activity relationships for a series of small-molecule thiophenes resulted in potent and selective antagonism of human Complement C3a receptor. The compounds are about 100-fold more potent than the most reported antagonist SB290157.

The effects of silica fume on C3A hydration

, 2020
Silica fume is a key component of high-performance concrete due to the physicochemical influences on cement hydration and the hardening process. Despite its importance, the effects of silica fume on C3A-gypsum systems hydration have been poorly studied ...
