Ovarian cancer: the duplicity of CA125 measurement

Nature Reviews Clinical Oncology, 2010
Since it was first described in 1981, CA125 has held an important role in monitoring patients with ovarian cancer. CA125 is elevated in 80% of patients with epithelial ovarian cancer at initial diagnosis and correlates well with response to therapy. CA125 monitoring is used for the follow up of patients with epithelial ovarian cancer, and elevations in

CA125—A Test with a Change of Heart

Heart, Lung and Circulation, 2011
CA125 is well known as a tumour marker for ovarian cancer. Like all tumour markers it is not specific for a specific tumour and may be elevated in benign disease. Even in ovarian cancer it seems that CA125 is derived from mesothelial production rather than from the cancer cells. CA125 is a natural product of serosal epithelial cells and present in most

Effect of Menstruation on Serum CA125 Levels

Asia-Oceania Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 1992
AbstractCA125 levels were measured in the sera of 54 women with normal menstrual cycle and without infectious, benign and malignant gynecologic disorders. In 54 subjects studied, 13 (24%) had no significant variations in serum CA125 levels throughout the menstrual cycle.

CA125 in Culture Medium of Preimplantation Embryo

Gynecologic and Obstetric Investigation, 1996
The first stage of the implantation is the adhesion of the embryonic pole of the blastocyst to the decidua. Such a phenomenon has been demonstrated to be dependent on the presence of glycoproteic compounds, produced partly by the decidua and partly by the embryo.

Smartphone-based immunosensor for CA125 detection

Talanta, 2017
In this work, we report the design, the development and the characterization of the analytical performances of a colorimetric smartphone-based immunosensor for the detection of cancer antigen 125 (CA125). The immunosensor was based on a sandwich strategy in which the primary antibody was immobilized by spotting onto the 3D nitrocellulose membrane.

CA125‐producing adenocarcinoma of the seminal vesicle

Pathology International, 1994
A case of primary seminal vesicle carcinoma is reported. The tumor was a CA125‐producing adenocarcinoma consisting of fine papillary‐tubular, intricate branching or anastomosing glandular structures and was composed of small cuboidal, but occasionally hobnailed, cells with mostly clear, but occasionally granular, cytoplasm.

[HE4 and CA125 in ovarian cancer].

Akusherstvo i ginekologiia, 2013
Ovarian cancer is forth reason that causes mortality in women all over the world. In Europe the death is 3.6 up to 9.3 in 100000 women. HE4 is a newly, more specific diagnostic marker for ovarian cancer. Human epididimis protein 4 (HE4) belongs to a group with four disulfide core proteins.
