Compatibility of repair materials with substrate low-modulus cement and asphalt mortar (CA mortar)

Construction and Building Materials, 2016
Abstract The compatibility of the mechanical properties of low-modulus cement and asphalt mortar (CAM) and repair materials was studied using the four-point bending test method. According to the bearing characteristics of CAMs, a four-point bending fatigue test was further developed to evaluate the compatibility of this material with the repair ...

Response of Prefabricated Slab Track to Failed CA Mortar

ICTE 2013, 2013
China High Speed railway network has a large percentage of slab tracks based on foreign designs like Shinkasen, Bogl, Zublin, and Rheda2000. These have been modified for local conditions and renamed Chinese Railway Track System (CRTS). In this paper, the field performance of CRTSI structure (similar to the Japanese Shinkasen) is analyzed when part of ...

A microstructural approach to adherence mechanism of cement and asphalt mortar (CA mortar) to repair materials

Construction and Building Materials, 2014
Abstract Cement and asphalt mortar (CA mortar) is the key component for high-speed railway with high asphalt content to obtain low modulus which makes it difficult to bond with repair materials. The purpose of this work was to investigate the bonding mechanism of CA mortar to two type repair materials – SAC-AE composite mortar (short for SACR) and ...

Research on water seepage of cement asphalt emulsified (CA) mortar

Construction and Building Materials, 2016
Abstract In this paper, water seepage of cement asphalt emulsified mortar (CA mortar) was studied in a small-scale track model, including the seepage rate, the chemical composition of the seeping water and its effects upon CA mortar. It is shown that the seepage time is negatively correlated to the environment temperature.

Deterioration mechanism of CA mortar due to simulated acid rain

Construction and Building Materials, 2018
Abstract In acid rain regions of Southwest China, cement-emulsified asphalt mortar (CA mortar), a key structure component in China Railway Track System (CRTS), is reported with more serious damaged signs than other locations. To investigate the effects of acid rain on its durability, the CA mortar specimens were immersed in acid solutions with pH ...

Degradation of mechanical properties of CA mortar caused by calcium leaching

Construction and Building Materials, 2019
Abstract Calcium leaching is an important durability problem for cement asphalt (CA) mortar used in ballastless slab track. In this paper, calcium leaching in CA mortar was accelerated by immersing in 6 mol/L ammonium nitrate solution. The leaching kinetics and related changes in mechanical behavior and microstructure of CA mortar were studied ...

Long-term forecast of Ca leaching from mortar and associated degeneration

Cement and Concrete Research, 2002
The purpose of this study is the long-term forecast of Ca leaching from mortar and degeneration with Ca leaching. First, a technique for long-term forecasting of Ca leaching from mortar was constructed. Here, Ca is made to dissolve out by combining the electrochemical acceleration test with the diffusion test; it was converted on the basis of Ca ...

Study on relationships between static mechanical properties and composition of low modulus CA mortar

Construction and Building Materials, 2021
Abstract As an organic–inorganic composite material, the mechanical properties of cement asphalt mortar (CA mortar) are closely related to its composition. In order to studying the relationship between mechanical properties and composition of CA mortar, a mechanical model of CA mortar from four different levels (i.e.,cement hydration products, cement

The Effect of Temperature on the Mechanical Properties of CA Mortar

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
The compressive strength and the flexural strength of CA mortar at different temperature conditions were all tested. We have found that temperature has great influence on the mechanical properties of CA mortar. As the temperature increase from -40°C to 60°C, its compressive strength decrease from 31.7MPa to 1.5MPa for CRTS I type CA mortar, while the ...

Study on SBS Modified Asphalt Emulsion and Aggregate Adhesion of CA Mortar

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
The influence of pH of emulsified asphalt, the kinds and content of emulsifiers and stabilizers on asphalt-aggregate adhesion have been investigated in this paper. Results show that the pH of the emulsified asphalt has great impact on asphalt-aggregate adhesion by way of the effect of pH on asphalt, asphalt-aggregate adhesion is worst when asphalt ...
