Deterioration mechanism of CA mortar due to simulated acid rain

Construction and Building Materials, 2018
Abstract In acid rain regions of Southwest China, cement-emulsified asphalt mortar (CA mortar), a key structure component in China Railway Track System (CRTS), is reported with more serious damaged signs than other locations. To investigate the effects of acid rain on its durability, the CA mortar specimens were immersed in acid solutions with pH ...

Conductivity behavior of the fresh CA mortar and its relationship with the fluidity properties

Construction and Building Materials, 2012
Abstract In order to find a new test method to investigate the relationship between the compositions and fluidity of the cement and emulsified asphalt mortar (CA mortar), the conductivity and the fluidity properties of the fresh CA mortar with different mixtures were studied by analysis of the relationships among the liquid fraction, the “J” type ...

Study on SBS Modified Asphalt Emulsion and Aggregate Adhesion of CA Mortar

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
The influence of pH of emulsified asphalt, the kinds and content of emulsifiers and stabilizers on asphalt-aggregate adhesion have been investigated in this paper. Results show that the pH of the emulsified asphalt has great impact on asphalt-aggregate adhesion by way of the effect of pH on asphalt, asphalt-aggregate adhesion is worst when asphalt ...

Long-term forecast of Ca leaching from mortar and associated degeneration

Cement and Concrete Research, 2002
The purpose of this study is the long-term forecast of Ca leaching from mortar and degeneration with Ca leaching. First, a technique for long-term forecasting of Ca leaching from mortar was constructed. Here, Ca is made to dissolve out by combining the electrochemical acceleration test with the diffusion test; it was converted on the basis of Ca ...

Study on Effect of Aluminum Powder in CA (Cement Asphalt) Mortar

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014
CA mortar is using the domestic with river sand as aggregate currently in China, we use sand to replace river sand as fine aggregate in CA mortar. The main purpose is test the influence of dosage on aluminum in the CA mortar. Experiments show that dosage should be the best aluminum from 0.01% to 0.015 %.

Experimental study on the stability of asphalt emulsion for CA mortar by laser diffraction technique

Construction and Building Materials, 2012
Abstract A laser diffraction particle size analyzer was employed to measure the particle size variations of two asphalt emulsions under stress conditions to evaluate their storage stability, freeze–thaw stability, and mechanical stability. Results showed that when the dosage of non-ionic emulsifier was increased from 0.4% to 0.8%, the particle size ...

Thermal analytical investigation of unaltered Ca(OH)2 in dated mortars and plasters

Thermochimica Acta, 1998
Abstract The presence of unaltered relics of hydrates of calcium and magnesium in dated plasters and mortars are investigated by thermal analysis, X-ray powder diffraction, and by hydration of dated specimens after incremental heat treatment in a muffle furnace. The results are compared with the literature.

Study on the Resistance to Water of CA Mortar Used in CRTSII Ballastless Slab Track

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014
This paper studied mechanical properties and microscopic changes of CRTSⅡtype CA mortar under the roles of the conditions of water immersion, acid soaking, wet and dry cycling, etc. The results show that: under the role of water immersion, the relative compressive strength decreases and elastic modulus decreases firstly and then increases with the ...

Criteria for repairing damages of CA mortar for prefabricated framework-type slab track

Construction and Building Materials, 2016
Abstract Damage of bagged cement–emulsified asphalt (CA) mortar tends to create voids underneath the track slab and will reduce the carrying capacity of the track structure, which is contrary to its design purpose of providing a long-term, safe and reliable service.

Influence of Temperature on the Absorption Behaviour between Cement and Asphalt Emulsion in CA Mortar

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
Cement asphalt mortar (CA mortar) is a highly flowable grouting material used in the slab track structure. Temperature significantly influences the workable time of CA mortar. The workable time of CA mortar is controlled by the adsorption of asphalt droplets in the emulsion on cement grains.
