Bonding Durability of Two Repair Mortars with Low Modulus Cement and Asphalt Mortar (CA Mortar)
Journal of Testing and Evaluation, 2017Abstract This paper presents the results of a study investigating the bonding performance of two type repair materials, resin mortar (RM) and sulphoaluminate cement-asphalt emulsion mortar (SACR), with substrate cement and asphalt mortar (CA mortar) when repair systems are subjected to freezing-thawing cycles and thermal shock.

The Effect of Temperature on the Mechanical Properties of CA Mortar
Advanced Materials Research, 2012The compressive strength and the flexural strength of CA mortar at different temperature conditions were all tested. We have found that temperature has great influence on the mechanical properties of CA mortar. As the temperature increase from -40°C to 60°C, its compressive strength decrease from 31.7MPa to 1.5MPa for CRTS I type CA mortar, while the ...

Compatibility of repair materials with substrate low-modulus cement and asphalt mortar (CA mortar)
Construction and Building Materials, 2016Abstract The compatibility of the mechanical properties of low-modulus cement and asphalt mortar (CAM) and repair materials was studied using the four-point bending test method. According to the bearing characteristics of CAMs, a four-point bending fatigue test was further developed to evaluate the compatibility of this material with the repair ...

Response of Prefabricated Slab Track to Failed CA Mortar
ICTE 2013, 2013China High Speed railway network has a large percentage of slab tracks based on foreign designs like Shinkasen, Bogl, Zublin, and Rheda2000. These have been modified for local conditions and renamed Chinese Railway Track System (CRTS). In this paper, the field performance of CRTSI structure (similar to the Japanese Shinkasen) is analyzed when part of ...

Deterioration of CA mortar filling layer under cyclical thermal loading
Construction and Building Materials, 2020Abstract Cement and emulsified asphalt mortar (CA mortar) has been widely used as a filling layer between concrete bed plates and track slabs for high-speed railways. This study analyses the cracking mechanism of the interface between CA mortar and the concrete under CT treatment (cyclical temperature from −40 °C to 60 °C) and CTI treatment (cyclical

Degradation of mechanical properties of CA mortar caused by calcium leaching
Construction and Building Materials, 2019Abstract Calcium leaching is an important durability problem for cement asphalt (CA) mortar used in ballastless slab track. In this paper, calcium leaching in CA mortar was accelerated by immersing in 6 mol/L ammonium nitrate solution. The leaching kinetics and related changes in mechanical behavior and microstructure of CA mortar were studied ...

The Effect of the Calcium Leaching on the Microstructure and Rupture Strength of CA Mortar
Advanced Materials Research, 2014This paper deals with the effect of calcium leaching on the microstructure and rupture strength of cement asphalt (CA) mortar. It is conducted by an accelerated experiment method with species obtained from construction site. Results show that the leaching process mainly contains a total leaching of CaOH2 (CH) and some other cement hydrations.

Effects of temperature and loading rate on the compressive behaviour of CA mortar
Magazine of Concrete Research, 2016The coupled effect of loading rate and temperature on the compressive behaviour of cement asphalt mortar (CA mortar) is investigated in this paper. The uniaxial compressive test is conducted with CA mortar subjected to three different temperatures from 5°C to 35°C and seven different loading rates in the range of 1–50 mm/min.

Research on water seepage of cement asphalt emulsified (CA) mortar
Construction and Building Materials, 2016Abstract In this paper, water seepage of cement asphalt emulsified mortar (CA mortar) was studied in a small-scale track model, including the seepage rate, the chemical composition of the seeping water and its effects upon CA mortar. It is shown that the seepage time is negatively correlated to the environment temperature.

Studies on the Effects of Air Content on the Mechanical Properties of CA Mortar
Advanced Materials Research, 2014Mechanical properties of CA mortar with different air content were studied, and the size of the air bubbles was also analyzed. Results showed that the ductibility of CA mortar could be largely prolonged by the air bubbles. As the air content of CA mortar increased from 4.2% to 9.1%, the strain of the maximum stress increased from 1% to 2%.
