Integrative Zoology, EarlyView.Rapid urbanization reshaped rodent populations, morphology, and gut microbiota along an urban–rural gradient. The synanthropic rat (Rattus norvegicus) increased in abundance toward the urban core and exhibited reduced ear and tail length, whereas the farmland mouse (Apodemus agrarius) and woodland rat (Niviventer confucianus) declined.
