‘Guide and Prejudice’— How Argonautes recognize targets across domains of life

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Argonaute proteins use short nucleic‐acid guides to locate and regulate specific targets across all domains of life. Despite striking diversity—from human gene silencing to bacterial immune defence—all Argonautes share a conserved three‐stage recognition logic: guide‐directed sampling, progressive target pairing with a conformational checkpoint and ...

Minimum Dynamic Cable Tension Workspace Generation Techniques and Cable Tension Sensitivity Analysis Methods for Cable-Suspended Gangue-Sorting Robots

open access: yesMachines, 2023
The separation of gangues from coals with robots is an effective and practicable means. Therefore, a cable-suspended gangue-sorting robot (CSGSR) with an end-grab was developed in our early work.

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Uniform-tension form-finding design for asymmetric cable-mesh deployable reflector antennas

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2016
Space antennas with high gain and high directivity are in great demand for future communication and observation applications. Deployable cable-mesh reflector antennas are required to be tensioned in a self-equilibrated state through form-finding design ...

Force monitoring of Galfan cables in a long-span cable-truss string-support system based on the magnetic flux method

open access: yes, 2023
Magnetic flux sensors are commonly used in monitoring the cable force, but the application of the sensors in large diameter non-closed Galfan cables, as those adopted in Yueqing Gymnasium which is located in Yueqing City, Zhejiang Province, China and is ...

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Relaxation Behavior of Cerclage Cables and Its Effect on Bone Clamping Force

open access: yesBioengineering
Cerclage is an orthopedic surgical fixation technique using a cable wrapped, tensioned, and secured around a bone’s circumference. It is important to minimize the loss in cable tension that often occurs due to stress relaxation.

The Role of Calcitonin Gene‐Related Peptide in High‐Altitude Headache: A Prospective Field Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective High‐altitude headache (HAH) is a common neurological condition associated with rapid ascent to high altitude. The pathophysiological mechanisms underlying HAH remain incompletely understood. Calcitonin gene‐related peptide (CGRP), a neuropeptide implicated in migraine pathophysiology, may play a key role in the pathophysiology of ...
