Application of Neural Networks to Cache Replacement
Neural Computing & Applications, 1999Probabilistic Decision-Based Neural Networks (PDBNNs) can be considered as a special form of Gaussian Mixture Models (GMMs) with trainable decision thresholds. This paper provides detailed illustrations to compare the recognition accuracy and decision boundaries of PDBNNs with that of GMMs through two pattern recognition tasks, namely the noisy XOR ...

On optimal replacement of nonuniform cache objects
IEEE Transactions on Computers, 2000This paper studies a generalized version of the well-known page replacement problem. It assumes that page sizes and page fault penalties are nonuniform. This problem arises in distributed information systems, in particular the World Wide Web. It is shown that finding an optimal solution of this problem is an NP-complete problem.

A New Cache Replacement Algorithm in SMO
2002In the methods for training Support Vector Machines (SVM), precomputed elements in the Hessian matrix are usually cached in order to avoid recomputation. However, the least-recent-used replacement algorithm that is widely used is not suitable since the elements are requested in an irregular way.

An Efficient Web Cache Replacement Policy
2003Several replacement policies for web caches have been proposed and studied extensively in the literature. Different replacement policies perform better in terms of (i) the number of objects found in the cache (cache hit), (ii) the network traffic avoided by fetching the referenced object from the cache, or (iii) the savings in response time.

An Intelligent Cloud Cache Replacement Scheme
2013Cloud computing services heavily relies on data networks. The continuous and rapid growth of data in external private clouds accelerates downstream network-bandwidth saturation and public cloud data-out overspends. Client-side cloud caching is a solution.
