Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Computer aids and human second reading as interventions in screening mammography: two systematic reviews to compare effects on cancer detection and recall rate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Background: There are two competing methods for improving the accuracy of a radiologist interpreting screening mammograms: computer aids (CAD) or independent second reading. Methods: Bibliographic databases were searched for clinical trials.

$\kappa$-deformation, affine group and spectral triples [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A regular spectral triple is proposed for a two-dimensional $\kappa$-deformation. It is based on the naturally associated affine group $G$, a smooth subalgebra of $C^*(G)$, and an operator $\caD$ defined by two derivations on this subalgebra. While $\caD$

All CAD Is Not CHD, and All CHD Is Not CAD

open access: yesJournal of the American College of Cardiology, 2013
I read with great interest the review by Marzilli et al. ([1][1]) in a recent issue of the Journal . The authors make a compelling case that coronary artery disease (CAD) does not equal ischemic heart disease (IHD), or vice versa.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Application of the rapid prototyping technique to design a customized temporomandibular joint used to treat temporomandibular ankylosis

open access: yesIndian Journal of Plastic Surgery, 2009
Anthropometric variations in humans make it difficult to replace a temporomandibular joint (TMJ), successfully using a standard “one-size-fits-all” prosthesis.

Training for Evolving. The Architectural Project from CAD to CAM

open access: yesIn_Bo, 2020
Digital tools have considerably expanded the possibilities of managing transformation and architectural construction projects, offering the opportunity to obtain virtual models that can also approximate projects behaviour before the construction step ...

A computer aided design system with parametric dimensioning : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Philosophy in Industrial Technology at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
This thesis develops the concept of a parametrically dimensioned CAD system. Conventional CAD systems require the actual dimensions of all objects drawn to be defined during the drawing process.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...
