Geophysical and geochemical controls on the megafaunal community of a high Arctic cold seep [PDF]

open access: yesBiogeosciences, 2018
Cold-seep megafaunal communities around gas hydrate mounds (pingos) in the western Barents Sea (76° N, 16° E,  ∼ 400 m depth) were investigated with high-resolution, geographically referenced images acquired with an ROV and towed camera.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Dynamic Analysis of a Rolling Bearing Cage with Respect to the Elastic Properties of the Cage for the Axial and Radial Load Cases

open access: yesCommunications, 2014
The aim of this paper is to detail the creation of a large tapered roller bearing model with flexible body cages in the Adams program suite for subsequent dynamic analysis and to obtain information about kinematic and dynamic relationships of steel and ...

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Sea ice and millennial-scale climate variability in the Nordic seas 90 kyr ago to present

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
The response of Arctic sea-ice to rapid climatic change in the past remains uncertain. Here, the authors use biomarkers and microfossils to reconstruct Arctic sea-ice changes over the past 90,000 years, and demonstrate millennial-scale variability.

Housing and Management Practices on 33 Pullet Farms in Canada

open access: yesAnimals, 2019
Although Canada is one of the first to provide guidelines on pullet rearing in a new Code of Practice which came into effect in March 2017, little information is available about the housing and management of pullets on Canadian farms.

Bearings use dry self-lubricating cage materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
Rolling element bearings in spacecraft mechanical systems use solid lubricant composites of polytetrafluoroethylene in the bearing cage which functions as the lubricant reservoir. The cage spaces the rolling elements equally and provides the lubricant at

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Optimizing Spinal Fusion Cage Design to Improve Bone Substitute Filling on Varying Disc Heights: A 3D Printing Study

open access: yesBioengineering, 2023
The success of spinal fusion surgery relies on the precise placement of bone grafts and minimizing scatter. This study aims to optimize cage design and bone substitute filling methods to enhance surgical outcomes.

Thermodynamics of glasses: a first principle computation

open access: yes, 1998
We propose a first principle computation of the thermodynamics of simple fragile glasses starting from the two body interatomic potential. A replica formulation translates this problem into that of a gas of interacting molecules, each molecule being ...
