Cage Size and Jump Precursors in Glass-Forming Liquids: Experiment and Simulations [PDF]
Glassy dynamics is intermittent, as particles suddenly jump out of the cage formed by their neighbours, and heterogeneous, as these jumps are not uniformly distributed across the system.

High-resolution underwater laser spectrometer sensing provides new insights into methane distribution at an Arctic seepage site [PDF]
Methane (CH4) in marine sediments has the potential to contribute to changes in the ocean and climate system. Physical and biochemical processes that are difficult to quantify with current standard methods such as acoustic surveys and discrete sampling ...

We introduce the notion of a $[z, r; g]$-mixed cage. A $[z, r; g]$-mixed cage is a mixed graph $G$, $z$-regular by arcs, $r$-regular by edges, with girth $g$ and minimum order. In this paper we prove the existence of $[z, r ;g]$-mixed cages and exhibit families of mixed cages for some specific values.

The extreme yet transient nature of glacial erosion
Glacial erosion processes over geological timescales are poorly understood. Here the authors apply an observationally constrained model to reconstruct the evolving thermodynamics and transient erosional signature of the Eurasian Ice Sheet over the last ...

Theoretical infra-red, Raman, and Optical spectra of the B36N36 cage
The B36N36 fullerene-like cage structure was proposed as candidate structure for the single-shell boron-nitride cages observed in electron-beam irradiation experiment.

Animal Welfare and Food Safety Aspects of Confining Broiler Chickens to Cages
In most areas of the world, broiler chickens are raised in floor systems, but cage confinement is becoming more common. The welfare of broiler chickens in cages is affected by movement restriction, poor bone strength due to lack of exercise, and ...

Geophysical and geochemical controls on the megafaunal community of a high Arctic cold seep [PDF]
Cold-seep megafaunal communities around gas hydrate mounds (pingos) in the western Barents Sea (76° N, 16° E, ∼ 400 m depth) were investigated with high-resolution, geographically referenced images acquired with an ROV and towed camera.

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.
